Vikings unveil new helmet design By Richard Shaft, AP Football Writer October 14, 2005 Mound, MN (AP) -- The Minnesota Vikings unveiled on Thursday a re-designed team logo helmet, adding new elements to the classic Viking horn that has been synonymous with the team for decades. “This is just the latest in a series of exciting changes for the Vikings over the last week that reflect an uplifting new direction for the franchise,” said Brian Everett Vice President/General Counsel. “Certainly the bye we had last week was a big part of this, as is the stoic and complacent attitude that Mike Tice has brought to the team in his first four seasons. We want people to associate this new helmet design with the kind of enthusiasm and fluidity they can expect from our team and throughout the organization but ultimately we want people to associate it with satisfaction.” The Vikings also announced today that the team will have new uniforms for the 2nd half of the 2005 season. The re-designed uniforms are in the final development stages and will release in the winter. The new Vikings merchandise is available now at the team’s official website, www.fredsmoot.com, and at the Vikings training facility in Eden Prairie as well as on the entire fleet of charter cruise boats of Al and Alma’s Supper Club and Charter Cruises, the official yacht provider of the Minnesota Vikings. Fans can get a first-hand view of the new look this evening during a special postgame edition of the “Big Purple Pump” radio program, which will be broadcast live from 1:00-2:00 AM from one of Al and Alma’s luxury yachts located on Lake Minnetonka. link to old helmet link to new helmet
