Chance, I'd go, but I am boycotting Jillian's. They majory f'ed up a birthday party i set up for my wife a last year and made her cry. If anyone ever wants to get together at SRO on Westheimer, I am there though.
You asked for it. Well in essence, we called 1 month before her b-day, which is in late February. To top it all off, it was her 30th. So anyway, I called and said that all we wanted was for all of us to be able to sit together for dinner (there were like 15-18 of us). I even offered to put down a deposit if necessary. They said I did not have to do that and in fact, because our party was relatively large, they would give us free appetizers. So anyway, we get there, and they put us upstairs in the pool room. There were like 5 or 6 chairs surrounding the table and a lil ledge to put your food on. So I spoke with the person and charge and explained that we didn't want to play pool, not to mention the fact that there were not enough chairs for everyone to sit in and that we just wanted to be able to sit down somewhere, eat, talk, drink and whatnot. So the manger on duty puts us in this kickass private room (this is the room between the pool room and the club). Very posh. However, this is when it starts going downhill. The manager tells us that kids are not allowed in this room (we had 3 or 4 kids with us). In addition to that, we could have to pay $250 an hour to stay in this room past 8PM (it was already like 7:15 when we got in there). They bring the appetizers in the mean time and everyone scarfs them down. The friends that had kids got upset because the manager had griped at us for having kids in the room and they left, which left like 7 of us. So after arguing with the manager, he puts us in this huge banquet room adjacent to the pool area. They had all these big round tables spread out. So we go in there and needless to say, its not very cosy. We all felt we were there to listen to a lecture. Again, i speak with the manager and tell him we would rather sit in the dining/cafe area so we can eat. He said they were already booked for tonight and couldnt spare enough tables to put together so we could all sit together (once again, i had told them originally that all we wanted was to sit together and eat dinner there). Anyway, I complained some more and told them they really screwed all of this up so get this: The manager then says "I am sorry for all the trouble, I tell you what, we dont charge you for the hour that you spent in the VIP room or the appetiziers". Unbelievable. We never reserved that room in the first place and they only put us there because they f'ed up and had no other place to accomodate our needs. Plus, the appetizers were supposed to be free!!! I tried explaining all this and the manager basically said, "Well, whoever promised you free appetizers and took your reservation screwed up". So we paid our bill and left. The wife cried the whole time because they pissed off all of our guests, yellled at their children and did not do a thing they promised us they would do. There ya go.
what sucks even more is quoting the entire post, just to reply with "that sucks" see this thread.... scroll down to the 4th reply...
I am thinking about bringing a woman, though I can't really say she is mine. I think we'll just meet where they are showing the game on the biggest TV, or where the power dancers are, either option sounds like a winner to me. B
If anyone ever wants to get together at SRO on Westheimer, I am there though. [/B][/QUOTE] i think sro's closed down. you might want to check.
I have some prior commitments that are going to make me late, but I'm going to try to be out there by the 2nd half. Hope to see you out there. Tim
It seems like most people are lukewarm about attending the viewing party. Any reason why? (for those in Houston) I'm sure Tim would like to know what would make the viewing parties more enticing for us to attend. This will be my first official one to go to, so I'm not sure what to expect. Who has been to one before? And if you have been, what did you think of the experience? B
