    REMINDERS:

    1) As most of you know, the videos are encoded with the xvid codec and are being made available using the bittorrent p2p protocol, so if you arent sure what that means, check this FAQ written by droxford or google for help and then post here if you still have trouble after that.

Dont forget the need to seed...seeding is so important to bittorrent working right.

    2) if you are trying to play it on Windows Media Player, Quicktime, or RealPlayer and it still wont play after you install the xvid codec ..I would recommend using:

    Media Player Classic
BS player(scroll down to get free BS Player)
    VLC Player

    3) the Need To Feed the Tipjar (See my sig) is a ever-present need...if this server doesnt receive support, you never know when one day it might go away...and then where would you be? Clutch cant do everything for us...lets give the man a hand.

    Go Rockets
    :D

I'm not trying to be an ass... but doesn't Clutch make more than enough to support this server PLUS some from all the AD revenues?

And aren't we as members actually an asset to him, b/c w/o views there would be no ADs?

But I do appreciate all his efforts.. I love clutchfans.net.

just wanted to point that out from your post.

Did you really need to ask that? Do you want to see his financial books or something?

    thx R2K, btw.

do you know the monthly costs to keep the server running, plus all the bandwidth costs, plus all the mandatory upkeep and time it takes? How much do you think Clutch gets from the tipjar? i mean if everyone who is a member he donated 50 cents a month there would be more than enough to for clutch to quit his job and do this as a full time gig, but there isnt.

Clearly there were enough contributions for clutch to be able to upgrade the server, but the ads are still necessary and people should donate whenever they can to the tipjar even it is is just 50 cents.

think about it 33,612 members x 6 dollars (each member 50 cents a month) thats over 200k thats more than enough for clutch to do this as a full time job. but how many people here actually contribute? I would guess that 1/4 of the 33,612 are contributing members if its that high

i guess it depends on the donator for me i try to just donate one sum once a year rather than have that lump sum split across the year.

i have no idea the avg contribution only Clutch would know that. I would assume it would be between 10-20 bucks.

20/bucks a year is well worth for this forum with all the contributions from various people and info that is found here and at times the meaningful discussions with others.....heck 20/month is a lot cheaper than some of the p*rn sites out there.

I don't see why you have to point it out. Doesn't hurt anyone. He isn't demanding you contribute. Nothing whatsoever. Basically just extra "advertisement" for the tip jar.

I'm not trying to be an ass either.

Thanks R2K! I missed the first half of the Cavs game, time to watch the whole game again in all it's glory.

As for donations, etc, Clutch deserves any extra money (if any) he gets for creating and maintaining this site in his spare time. What's wrong w/ that? You're not the one risking your pocketbook that the ad revenue pays for maintenance costs each month.

Thank you R2K. I didn't watch the Cav game but was very excited Rox win that one. Anxious to see how Rox players pin down the message of "See you in Houston" into the NBA King's head.

It doesnt really matter how much he gets from the tipjar or ads, if you get hours of enjoyment here and want to ensure it stays that way, you dont need to question why I give extra plugs for the Tipjar.
I don't put that in my posts cause Clutch wants me to, I do that cause I do have an idea of what it costs and the time it takes to keep a board this large and active online, and rest assured Clutch is NOT making a profit here...not even close.

well, that separates you from roughly 50% of the posters in your average Game Thread. ;)

Yep, which is why I try to defend why you put it there. Maybe I don't know as much about the costs of this place, but I surely I appreciated and hope that eventually I can become a contributing member as soon as I graduate from college and get a job.

I love this place and I love the effort and time that Clutch gives to it. I know I sure as well wouldn't be able to keep up with such a thing even if I am a big Rockets fans.

R2K isn't forcing you to donate to the tipjar or anything. He's just putting it in his post to let people know there is a tipjar in case you feel like donating. Whether you want to donate or not is up to you.

I personally donate a small bit once a year, Im sure some contributing members donate once a month and some give onetime donations, but overall I don't think Clutch is earning a fortune off this site.
