He rebounds, dunks, has length and speed like Anthony Davis.

And I'd rather see him develop a face-up game first. With his speed he'd have a huge advantage.

Ahh was that the clear as mud point? Okay. Yeah shucks that did go over my head. Seemed to me more like someone making fun of someone for being happy about being validated for believing in the Rockets 1st round draft pick.

I think revisiting what people said earlier in the season about Capela does contribute to the present. Of course if I was one of the snarky many who so casually casted cynicism and doom on Capela before he could even get half a fair shake, then yeah, I too would maybe try to say that comments made in the past are irrelevant.

Substitute Papa for Capela, please. One is healthy enough to play, the other has had the longest ankle sprain in the history of the NBA.

Yup, can't be a productive NBA player if you're primary method of scoring is dunking or scoring a foot from the basket. Just ask guys like DeAndre Jordan, Tyson Chandler, Rudy Gobert and Hassaan Whiteside.

Pick and roll, being available near the basket on penetration, and offensive rebound put backs. That is all he needs to do and he will score plenty of points and shoot a high percentage. He just needs to know where to be when he isn't involved in the pick and roll and that just takes more playing time.

Reminds me of a very young Shawn Kemp in some ways.

His quick feet impressed me the most as well, might be one of the quickest of all the rockets big's.

Capela is so raw still, but it's good to see him finally show up in a NBA environment. If he develops, Rockets look to have an embarrassment of riches even if Smith leaves this offseason.

I am happy about Capela as the next person. In fact, I have been one of his biggest fans and have followed just about every game he has played for RGV. If you didn't cherry pick my post history, you might have seen that.

Ok then, my bad. Honest truth, I was just looking through Capela threads for all of our excitement at the beginning of the season when I came across that post. I'm just gonna go re-watch the 4 dunks on pg 1 and remind myself what the thread is about.

You've been watching RGV games to follow Capela? That's impressive.

Yes, when it comes to those 4 traits.

Anthony Davis was measured in 2012 at the NBA Draft Combine. Capela was measured in 2014 at the Nike Hoop Summit.

    Height with shoes:

    Davis: 6' 10.5"
    Capela: 6' 11"

    Wingspan:

    Davis: 7' 5.5"
    Capela: 7' 4.5"

    Standing reach:

    Davis: 9'0"
    Capela: 9' 2.5"

    Their size is very similar.

    Both have very long arms.

Both have natural instincts for blocking shots.

Both are exceptional rebounders, mostly due to their length.

Both are very quick. They can both run the floor, and they can both guard smaller guys and are quick enough laterally to stay in front of them.

They both have great dunking ability and have good hands. They are both deadly in the pick and roll and can catch lobs and finish high above the rim.

Now, obviously, Anthony Davis is the much better basketball player. He can shoot, dribble, and finish. Anthony Davis is older and a much more experienced basketball player.

But Capela has physical attributes that are very similar to Anthony Davis.

Capela's intro to the NBA was sort of like Ken Caminiti's debut with the Astros.

Definitively a nice night for Clint, showed a little potential out their.

His dunks remind me of D.Jordan a little.
