http://www.gamespot.com/news/6193730.html I'm vaguely surprised there's no thread on this yet. Lock/merge if I missed it. Man, the 360 is starting to get RPG-rich. Who'da thunk it? Though as far as I know Disgaea 3 is still PS3 exclusive... which really sucks for 360 owners. Can't complain, myself. It doesn't really matter to me either way, since I own both systems, but more great games on more platforms is always a good thing in my book. I think platform exclusives will probably start becoming more and more rare as time goes on. Speaking of exclusives... anyone heard anything on when Tekken 6 is coming out? I've been anticipating that sucker for YEARS now...
It was being discussed in the E3 thread: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=150364 Haven't heard much about T6, but I don't think we'll be calling it an exclusive for much longer. edit:Oops..fixed the link.
Ah, right. Well, figured it deserved its own thread. That would be good if Tekken 6 came to 360. I feel straight bad for anyone who misses out on a chance to play that game.
It would bother me a bit if they have to push back release dates to release games on both platforms simultaneously. With FF13, they haven't even started work on the 360 version and won't start until the Japanese PS3 version is done. If they can get the localization and port done in ~6 months (and both are good), then that's fine with me. But if it takes 12+ months (which I would assume would be due to the porting of the game and not the localization), then I'd be a little bothered. I've waited a long time for FF13, and I'd rather not wait longer due to a last minute decision to release the game on another platform. Not that I really care since I'll probably still love it in the end, but I'd still complain. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar is happening with T6. I haven't really kept up with the game (only mildly interested in it), but I figured we would have heard more about it by this point. It seemed like they started hyping it and even gave a release year IIRC (T6 2008 I think?), but they've gotten real quiet since then. FF vs 13 is still PS3 exclusive, but that will probably change (like you mentioned, I think ~95% of 3rd party games will available on both platforms at some point). It isn't even being actively developed IIRC since they had to move most of the staff over to work on FF13. Whenever they get back to working on it, they'll probably reconsider their release strategies. Maybe Wada will make another appearance at MS conference next year?
Indeed, that would piss me off greatly as well. Hopefully that doesn't happen. Yeah, it really is odd... the sheer lack of news on Tekken 6, that is. I remember it getting a fair bit of hype back in what, 2006? There's been barely anything on it. I'd love to have any kind of word on it soon. God, I could care less about FF vs 13. Maybe it'll end up being good, but I'm just not excited about it. Anyway, yeah... exclusives are really starting to go the way of the dodo, and I like that.
The fact that I havent really gotten into a FF since IX might be a reason why Im not jumping up and down about it...
As an owner of only the 360, I'm really excited about this. FWIW, I would have considered getting a PS3 if this were an exclusive but I would have waited it out if they had decided to stagger the releases for the PS3 and 360.
I'm excited that I can finally watch Heroes season 2 on my xbox. I got into it late. The Netflix partnership and the fact you can stream movies AND HAVE OTHER XBOX people watch it! To me, I'd rather have that Metal Gear Solid game, sure I hate watching long cut scenes, but it just seems cooler than Final Fantasy, which is basically one gigantic cut scene.
This is how I remember it: At E3 2005, they showed the CG teaser. I think they showed it (or an extended cut) again at E3 2006. Either at the end of 2006 or maybe early 2007, they actually started showing off the game. It was a bit disappointing graphically speaking IIRC, although it seemed pretty far along. A few months passed IIRC, and we got semi-regular updates (the graphics improved too IIRC). It was released in the arcades in late 2007, and we've waiting for word on the PS3 version ever since. The arcade board is based on the PS3, so from a technical standpoint, it shouldn't be hard to get it up and running on the PS3. I know they want to give it some time in the arcades for a number of reasons though, which is understandable. But I figured they would have said something by now. Like I said, I believe they wanted to get it out on the PS3 in 2008, so if it is actually going to meet that deadline, they'd have to start talking about it pretty soon. To be honest, I've been losing interest in both games for a while, mostly because they haven't shown anything new in 2-3 years. At least they showed more of FF13 though, so it is easier to be more excited about it. I guess that will change in a few weeks/months though. Finally. It certainly clears more up. No more questions about whether a game is really exclusive or not. That's one thing that has really bothered me this generation. I love the fact that a lot of games are appearing on both consoles (GTA, BioShock, Oblivion, FF, DMC, etc.), but the fact that pretty much all those games were pushed as exclusives but actually weren't bothers me. From now on, if the game isn't being published by Sony or Microsoft, there's probably a good chance it will show up on the other console at some point.
Don't feel bad your system will have this game soon: http://www.capcom.co.jp/sf4/trailer/trailer5.html and they'll have plenty of scrubs for you to work on since all the REAL SKILLED PLAYERS are on the other system
I can honestly say I never would have thought the 360 would become the 'RPG machine' this generation. Even as it was happening. But FF coming to it like that pretty much seals it. Hell, there's even a Star Ocean trailer up on Live. Even that is 'exclusive' to 360 right now. What a strange gen this is.
Actually pretty important news to me. This pretty much seals the deal that I will be buying a 360. With FF13 no longer an exclusive, and I'm somehow not too thrilled about MGS4, there really is no more must-have PS3 exclusive for me personally. With my last three systems being PS1, PS2, and PSP, this will be the first time I'll be playing a non-sony system in ages.
well if you consider ff13 a must buy you might want to get the ps3 since it has the complete final fantasy experience with ff13 versus only on ps3.
Don't try to hype up FF vs 13 at this point. Even if it does stay exclusive (unlikely), it won't be out for a LONG time. And if he didn't care for Kingdom Hearts, it probably won't mean much (well, I suppose a different setting could help, but still).
BTW, how many of you guys saw this announcement live? It was a pretty awesome unveiling IMO. They did a great job building up to the announcement. Can't really say the same for some other parts of the show, but no one is going to remember that stuff anyway. Maybe there is a video out there that shows it.
