Okay, so I know this was released a couple months ago, but I'd had a passing interest in it for awhile. I had inquired whether it was any good in this thread, but no one had played it apparently... RC also expressed interest in knowing if it was any good.

Well, I bought it over the weekend, since Gamestop was doing their buy-2-get-1-free on used games (the game is now priced at $40 used).

Dear god, BUY THIS GAME. It has singlehandedly rekindled my interest in the survival horror genre as a whole. I've only played the first three levels, but those alone are worth the price of admission. Already there have been a couple really freaky moments that made me go "Dah! What the f***!?", followed by maniacal laughter over just how creepy, gory, and visceral this game really is.

I absolutely love it. This is the most fun I've had since Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Okami. And anyone who's played those two games knows: that's really saying something.

I liked the first one a lot. I haven't bought it yet, but the demo on xbox live was enough. The game is creative. I plan on getting Condemned 2, but I'll wait til it's $15 at Fry's.

In the meantime, I'll eventually pick up the first one from Fry's at $15.

I didn't care for the first one much. It was creepy, but I didn't like how it basically walked you through the forensics. I found the fighting to just be so-so. Who the hell are those people anyway? I also HATED how you have to click the left stick to run (at least on 360).

I thought it was 2.5/5 stars.

So is the second one alot better or is it more of the same?

I never played the first one... but I can tell you from playing #2 and watching video of #1 that there have been MAJOR improvements to the fighting system (and run is now assigned to the left bumper/L2, not the left stick... also, the forensics system is considerably improved as well and actually requires thought).

Whereas before it was left trigger for block and right trigger for strike and that was kinda it... this time there's a lot more to it. You hit both triggers to block, and hit them right before the strike for a parry. You can kick with the right stick, alternate between jabs and hooks on the fly with the triggers, and you get damage bonuses for alternating left-to-right, and as you continue to get some good hits in and such, a little combo meter fills up that lets you do special sequences of attacks that end in something nast-ay. Also, if you beat a guy down enough and get him into a kneeling position, you can get him in a headlock and either snap his neck or do any number of environmentally-sensitive finishes (impale on rebar or smash head through TV, anyone?). Not to mention that targeting enemies' legs or heads with thrown items can get them staggered, so that a running attack will knock them to the ground and make them ripe for a ground finisher. The fighting has totally failed to get old for me. It's complex enough to stay interesting, and is absolutely one of the best parts of the game.

    Trust me... just get it.

This game is amazing. These days it takes a GREAT game to hold my interest. I could not stop playing this until I beat it.

The gameplay is so unique, sort of a first person brawler with some shooting elements. Also the scariest game I've ever played.

    A must own for PS3 or 360.

    Quoted for truth.

Seriously guys... if you own a PS3 or a 360, there's no excuse for not picking this up eventually. And I'd recommend IMMEDIATELY! :D

    I liked the first one.

One of the few single player games that I actually played through to the end.

I better check this one out.

I think Yahtzee (Zero Punctuation reviewer) like Condemned and at least part of Condemned 2, which did make me think about trying it out even more. I'm a bit busy with finals and a few other games, but I'll probably give it a try pretty soon.

Is there a demo for Condemned 2 on the PSN? I can't remember. I think I remember seeing a demo for the original on the PC, although I never did download it for some reason. I might check out some demos out if they're available.

Yes, there's a demo for #2 on PSN. It's what convinced me to buy the thing, actually. That's kinda been a running theme with me lately. I might never have bought Skate nor Condemned 2 if not for the PSN demos. Sweet lord am I glad I did...
