You've probably seen the TNT/NBA promo with Yao shooting jumper after jumper before a game. Here's unedited video shot before game 2 of Yao on the court 2 hours before tip off shooting 20 footers from one side to the other. http://www.click2houston.com/video/13206542/index.html Someone care to count how many he shot/made? A few of them were knocked out by other balls being shot. Still, pretty impressive.
Yao practices shooting from way out there, but he never does it in games. He should definitely start doing that, and he really will be unstoppable.
Why? once he starts to do that and feels comfortable, he'd gradually likes to live the outside life. More cons than pros. I'd like him to stick to post game.
I am wondering how it is that a ball boy can pass the ball to Yao in the chest but most of our players can't do that simple thing. They are always giving him bounce passes and for his height he has to bend down to his knees to catch those.
I'm impressed by Yao's dedication. We should start using his shooting touch from outside to mix it up with inside power move. Just to throw the opponent off base.
That was a little boring but I'm impressed on how Yao can make those shots with a pretty high percentage.
so why isn't yao taking most of the rocket's shots? does tmac shoot a higher percentage in practice at least?
They are 18~20 footer, right? Yao can make like ~70% of them, not bad. If we have a good PF, Yao can sometimes go outside to take those jumpers.
current rockets offensive system doesn't allow yao to do that. but it's still good for yao becoz in case another coach runs the rockets in future, he may want to use that. it's good to have one more weapon even if you don't use it now.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=128096 Rafer was at the left corner for a while shooting mid-range jumpers. I don't think ball boys would ask to be paid to join Yao's shootaround, would they?
