[VIDEO] WWI footage?

    Is this legit? Look at these guys fighting hand to hand combat with mortars going off every few seconds. The courage these men had was off the charts.

    From like the 8th youtube comment:

    "This isn't actual WW1 battlefield footage. This is footage from the 1927 film Wings filmed in Antonio, Texas, US. See following video and note the background hills at 0:47. Apparently a lot of footage didn't make it into the movie and there was numerous outtakes.

    And it's true that "dead guys" roll out of the way of one of the tanks. So, interesting, but not real footage of the Great War.

    Ah good catch Bob. I read something about it being toward the 1916-ish time because of the swift moving tanks, but didn't clearly see the dead guys rolling out of the way.

    I can't imagine filming was an easy or widespread enough process in the 1910's to allow for continuous operation and recording in a World War I battlefield. I also wonder how many media people though it was a safe enough environment to report or record in.
