It just so happens that I finished downloading Game 1 on my computer as Game 2 was coming to a close, and I thought it'd be nice to have a little montage of Dikembe's "real" last game. I had to stop watching the video... almost made me tear up. I am sad seeing someone as great as Dikembe have their career end right in front of my eyes in such manner.

Man that's sad. It's amazing how something can end so quick. I appreciated every minute he gave the Rockets. Mutombo he is such an amazing player and such an amazing person.
Mutombo was my second favorite player too the Dream. This really sucks his body couldn't take it anymore. This is sad day for the Rockets and basketball. We really needed his defense and leadership. We have to win it For Dikembe.
I'm so sad I can't believe it ended like this. They better have a tribute to Dikembe on Espn Sportscenter . One the Greatest Centers and Players of all time!
I know this is a thread about Deke. And I too feel like my dog died when I heard he wasn't coming back. But with all this outpouring of love and the cry of the fans, I can't help but juxtapose this against Tracy's injury in my mind. Compare the way these two things happened. Tracy's lazy rehab efforts and total lack of desire on the court coupled with the selfish timing of his announcement to end his season. Vs. Deke's amazing never-quit attitude, incredible humanitarian efforts, and giving everything he had even at the age of 43 to the point where they had to take him off the court on a freaking stretcher before he would stop playing. Compare the reaction of the fans. Tracy was heckled by the media, eye rolls from the fans, and scorn from the organization. Deke will be given the royal treatment as his career comes to a close, hell, CCR already posted a tribute video of him, the "Deke appreciation thread" is a mile long with fan posts already. I know this isn't the place for Tmac bashing, but it just makes you appreciate a guy like Mutombo even more when you think about the situation. Can't wait to see the finished tribute videos... the man had an awesome career.
