Shaq was in town visiting a 24 Hour Fitness he owns in Pearland. He had some good comments about the Rockets (says they have all the pieces already) and the coaching search. He's tired of all the retread coaches getting the jobs and threw out the names of Brian Shaw and Chuck Person.

I"d give Brian Shaw a shot. He can coach. I'd also give some young blood with some drive and work ethic a shot too. Why not Mario Elie y'know? He's been around the block. He knows offense and defense. As long as he doesn't do what Clyde did when he was coaching the Houston Cougars ...what a mess that was.

Yea, let's hire Brian Shaw. That's really a guy that can demand McGrady's respect.

After the Avery Johnson failed experiment I don't want another player/type coach especially one whose career ended in last 5 years or so. Maybe some player from the early 90's late 80's. I say no to any player younger than Mutombo as head coach for this team.

Avery Johnson won 67 games this year and reached a championship last year. The Rockets should fail like that sometime.

Shaq had a problem with retreads?

Could have fooled me when he stabbed Stan Van Gundy in the back to get Pat Riley to coach...

One might call Pat Riley a retread.

Yeah the Mavs coach whose team reached the mount everest of chokes. For 2 years he made everyone think this team was mentally focused and tough but we all saw them unravel like a bunch of school girls. He had everyone convinced that he is was shaping them in his image and now they were a refection of him. So naturally the guy should take the blame for a total mental collapse by his team. Mavs weren't beaten because out having inferior players or talent they just choked and nothing can excuse a team and the coach for that.

    Hilltopper,

    Thanks for the footage.

I'm surprised that Shaq would open gyms that didn't have basketball courts. That's pretty lame. Plus he said it was open 24 hours, and it's not.

Imo, shaq's words are as meaningful as a can full of fart. Its going to be hard to demand respect from a superstar type of player if you don't have the "credentials" or the "name" yet so hiring them might be risky. But I do agree that brian shaw's a good coach. He did things on that laker bench under phil's wings.

On the side note, your going for law enforcement too brieflyspeaking? That's nice. I'm going for the lapd. You?

Shaq has such a light-hearted attitude and he's funny. One of my top 10 sports stars I would dig hanging out with for the night.

    :D
