That woman is evil and the video is terrifying. To avoid coming off as a food snob (again), I'm going to resist the urge to go into a full-fledge rant about her show.

That said, google her Kwanzaa cake video. It's seriously a crime against humanity.

I don't get it. Never heard of her, but it looks like she is just someone with a cooking show, making, y'know, various stuff.

I don't care if you are a food snob or not, what's the problem?

Her brand of "cooking" generally consists of doctoring up processed ingredients to make them look somewhat homemade.

While I won't criticize someone for doing this in their home, I think someone hosting a cooking show should a) be held to a higher standard if we're going to look at them as an authority on food and b) EDUCATE their viewers on how to REMOVE processed, unhealthy food from their diets, as opposed to encouraging them to put more in. As much as Rachael Ray annoys me, she at least encourages her viewers to learn how to cook and to use fresh ingredients. What Sandra Lee basically does is tells people, "Why waste your time making anything from scratch when you have all these store-bought (unhealthy) means to cut corners?"

I'm not saying that everyone should use organic and farm raised ingredients and spend hours a day cooking and whip out gourmet food every night. Most people don't have the time or means to do so. But I do think we should encourage people to do their best, and Sandra Lee does the exact opposite of that.

And yes, I do think it would be cool to have her as that one hot aunt how gets trashed at every family reunion (in one of her episodes I think she makes cocktails at a little league game. I'm not joking). But I think her show is evil.

    [/full-fledged rant]

The show is called semi-homemade. That's the point of the show.

Not every cooking show is about eating healthy. Were you under the impression that they were supposed to be? Her stuff isn't any more unhealthy than what people like Emeril and Paula Deen make.

    Yes. I'm aware of that.

I'm not saying they should be about eating healthy, I'm saying they shouldn't be about using blatantly UNHEALTHY, processed ingredients that 90% of people don't realize are bad for them.

I would guess that Emeril's food is considerably better for you than Paula Deen or Sandra Lee's. And at least with Paula Deen you know that your cholesterol will probably go through the roof if you use that much butter and mayo. Most people aren't aware of all the crap that goes into the ingredients that Sandra Lee suggests people use on a day-to-day basis.

Whether it's blatant or not, unhealthy food is unhealthy. What does it matter? People who take Food Network seriously are crappy cooks anyhow.

No, Emeril's food is not considerably healthier than Paula or Sandra's food if they made the same dish. You can't compare fried butter chocolate cupcakes to crawfish etouffee to Kraft mac n cheese.
