I found this on another board. It looks to me like he just comes from behind and purposely tries to shove the ref down. But the video is pretty poor quality.
Not a chance...Duncan has always been one of the classiest players in the league. That stupid ref was standing at the FT line! Duncan was going to set a pick and the ref was in the way. I'm sure that Duncan wasn't trying to shove him to the floor, but probably gave him a nudge to try and get him off the floor where he's supposed to be. Plus, the ref is like 5'7", so of course he's going to fall to the ground after bumping into a seven footer...
What's worse is that all of San Antonio are crying over the suspension saying how 'ol goody-two-shoes would never do such a thing. It's sickening.
Your really not even supossed to touch a ref, whether he's in the way or not. Though looking at the replay, the ref did an obvious flop.
That ref shouldn't have been there at that time and while Duncan did push him rather aggressively I don't think he should've been suspended.
If anyone should be suspended it should be the idiot ref. Leagues never do enough to discipline the stupid ones. take the NFL for example the guy who blinded the cleveland browns line man (orlando brown?) he's still there and nothing happened to him. Fine the ref damn it if anything for impeding the game.
Who cares. I hate NBA refs and he was in the way. You don't see NFL refs with these problems. NBA refs are horrible. I dislike almost all of them.
1. What the hell was the ref doing there anyway? Talk about in the way. 2. You don't touch a ref. That's the rule. Duncan - smart a player as he is - should know this. I'm betting he does. He probably just let his latest ref frustration get the best of him, after the clubbing he got in the Laker game.
i didn't see the play, but someone told me they just had a jumpball, which would explain why the ref was in that area of the court in the first place. he should have moved earlier, but looking at that video, duncan deserved at least one game. looks like he deliberately ran behind the ref and shoved him to the ground.
Wow, it's about time a ref got fined----- NFL ref fined half his paycheck December 3, 2003 NEW YORK (AP) -- Referee Tom White was fined $2,600 for failing to restart the clock at the end of the Seattle-Baltimore game, a mistake that contributed to the Seahawks' 44-41 overtime loss. The fine represented half of White's game check, supervisor of officials Mike Pereira said Wednesday. The entire crew was reprimanded for its performance during the Nov. 23 game, presumably hurting its chances to officiate in the playoffs. Crews are assigned to the postseason based on their regular-season ratings. ``Maybe they didn't do their part, but we didn't do our part, either,'' Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said a day after the game. The play in question occurred with 58 seconds left and Seattle ahead 41-38. The Seahawks' Shaun Alexander gained 3 yards to the Baltimore 33, but head linesman Ed Camp threw a penalty flag because he thought offensive tackle Floyd Womack lined up as an ineligible receiver. The Ravens called their final timeout but the clock was stopped anyway for the officials to discuss the penalty. They determined Womack was eligible, let the play stand and gave Baltimore back its final timeout. The Ravens were ready to call timeout again, but White did not restart the clock. As a result, Baltimore saved its timeout until after the plays, saving 40 seconds that it used when it got the ball back to tie a game it eventually won in overtime. ``I don't think we have any cause to be pointing fingers anywhere else,'' Seahawks linebacker Chad Brown said at the time. ``Yeah, the officials blew the call. And we gave up 41 points.''
