I didn't see this posted. Check out the long interview with Yao. You have to look and find it on the right side: YAO VIDEO LINK He talks about his health, new players and even Hakeem. Good stuff.
Thanks for the vid. Yao's english is almost perfect now What a surprise. One of the things that appealed to me the most was yao complimenting on how much luther has improved over the summer. Maybe im just a head fan but, im very curious to find out to what degree has he changed his game. With all these additions at the gaurd, i hope he improves enough to contribute next year. Can't wait till we beat memphis...
Very impress with Yao how he handled the interview. He spoke real natural and comfortable although he still have accent, he had improved a lot from previous year. And he also has a sense of humor.
Ever the diplomat.... I thought he handled the part talking about his new teammates very well. When asked about V-Span and Battier, he jokingly pointed out that their respective teams did beat his own at the WBC. What impressed me the most was the little follow up question about having revenge on them during training camp, to which Yao responded that he hopes that they continue to play like that during camp. Something that is not only humble, but also give props to his new teammates. Good job, Yao.
What strikes me is how much more intelligent he seems now that he's really picked up the language. I mean... I've known he's a smart guy, but sometimes it was difficult to figure out what he was trying to say. Also comforting was a reminder of the rest he got while he was down with the foot injury. Not only did he get some time off, but he didn't play the whole 82 games last season. Top that off with his fine play in the FIBA games and I'm pretty pumped. *Comic Book Guy* Longest off-season ever!
What a great guy. Totally balanced, great discipline, great drive, great intelligence, great skills, great people person. You couldn't ask for a better face for this organization than Yao and Tracy. You know they are going to dominate this year.
I'd like to think we all owe Colin Pine a great deal for his diligent work on familiarizing Yao with the American culture and honing Yao's fundamental English skills in Yao's first three NBA seasons. It's very encouraging to know Head's been working hard to improve his games. I for one hope I'll not complain anymore about Head's FTs, passing ability, and of course, his finishing near the basket after penetration!
