The article says that Vargas jumped at Mayorga first, but it appears in the video that Mayorga took the initial punch.

These guys are gonna need to have atleast 3 or 4 fist fights before the real one to actually make anyone watch it. Both guys are washed up. Theres no future for either one, even when one wins, they won't gain anything. Except another shot at getting their asses handed to them.

Lets talk about a fight worth mentioning like the Ricky Hatton vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight in November. Now there is a fight!

whoa.. mayorga got his cheek/eye swollen up nicely. I hope Vargas knocks him out badly. Even though I really don't care who wins.

Both of these guys are washed up, but the reason they are washed up is that they come to fight and don't dance around. Which is exactly why this fight should be fun to watch. Don King had to have been the happiest guy at that press conference.

I would have paid to see it before this, and I'm even more excited to watch it after all this.

Mayorga looks to be taking his career seriously, which was his biggest problem. He'd smoke, drink, eat like crap, and go out there and fight and be competitive, but he knows if he wants to keep fighting on PPV's and main events, he's got to win this fight.

Vargas is done, he's been thru wars, and has back problems which prevent him from getting into tip top shape, but he'll come to fight.

I liked how the translator didn't hold back and said exactly what Mayorga was saying....calling him fatty. :D

Vargas was wearing a ring on his finger, and landed that first punch he threw. Mayorga did start it by throwing a backhand and then Vargas retaliated.

Regardless, even IF Mayorga wins, it isn't going to sky rocket him to fame or something. The guy said he wants to fight Cotto, Floyd, or Shane Mosley. No way in hell he stands a chance. He's good for PPV sales, but he isn't good enough to beat anyone good. Hell Oscar isn't even THAT good and he got destroyed by him. Mayorga is a joke, and that's all he is good for, a laugh.

Oh I agree he's not in those guys leagues, I just meant he needs a win for him to keep fighting the Vargas and Gatti's of the world to make a living.

Their both washed up, and they have to talk trash and do stuff like this to generate interest in the fight.

That being said, I think Mayorga will win. Vargas looks heavy and will have a hard time making weight during the next 6 weeks. Mayorga will not retire him, because I see Vargas fighting way the hell past when he should retire, like Tyson. But, Mayorga will push him closer to the exit door.
