I thought this deserved it's own thread since the current active one is about Reggie Bush, and his preseason hype. Anyways, I got this video off of SportsCenter tonight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZFo7LARe_4 <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kZFo7LARe_4"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kZFo7LARe_4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
ESPN actually did a segment on Mario! Glad to see they are saying he was the perfect fit. Also, isn't that asian reporter guy one of the reporters for the local ABC channel?
Me too man. And that video. DAMN. Now I'm really excited. (that and watching the Stros have their asses handed to them in the RED's BIGGEST margin of win of the season.) GO TEXANS! I'm feeling good about this season.
Did you see that the first thing that popped up on the bottom line durning the piece was the Astros / Reds game. Even when its good, its bad.
What??? ESPN is doing a special on a guy who hasn't played one single down in the NFL and calling him a difference maker???? ESPN is a hype machine!! /sarcasm
Awesome video...thanks for posting that Julio. Good to see ESPN doing a piece on someone other than Bush. I think it would be cool to see them doing a piece like this on every Top 5 or 10 draft pick, it would be sweet to see how guys like VY, D'Brick, Hawk, Vernon Davis, etc... are coming along. As for Mario, I can't wait for the season to begin. Having a batted down pass, a tackle for a loss, and drawing 2 penalties from the opposing OL in 2 quarters of play is what I want to see.
Ok, wasn't Mark Schlarath (sp?) the same guy that was all over Sportscenter saying what a big mistake we made passing on Bush?
I don't think anybody at ESPN (or here, for that matter) realized how BAD our defense has regressed over the last few years... and when you couple that with the fact that there was ZERO capable pass rushers (even if the system was functional), Mario makes more and more sense (even though he didn't have to be the #1 pick... but there was zero chance of trading down).
Everyone at ESPN except Michael Smith basically threw our entire franchise under the table for not selecting Reggie.
You, sir, Mr. Julio-R-, are my hero. Thank you. Oh, and BTW, it's "its" not "it's" on your opening post.
I was uber-pissed when we took him instead of Bush. I was watching the Astro game the Friday before the draft and they announced that we had signed him to a contract. I nearly spit beer through my nose. I thought it was a joke. But... Now, I'm cool with it. Watching guys like Verand Morency and Wali Lundy eat up yards during the 1st two preseason games has turned me into a believer. I know it's only preseason, but the system allows...well, we all know about Kubiak's offense and RB's. If Mario turns into the next Bruce Smith, I don't see how anyone can question the pick, even if Reggie turns into the next Barry Sanders.
