Thank you so much for all the work in putting these clips together. Just wondering, has Scola even dunked once in this tournament?
I Love his midrange game, he has a good mid range shot, and he also likes to drive. but can you imagine all the midrange shots he will get with Playing next to Yao. I really like this signing.
Like Juwan Howard's jumpers? Scola need to learn how to feed Yao and get rebound first. Juwan was able to make all the mid-range jumpers and he's the scapegoat for 2 seasons.
Yes but all Howard could do was hit the midrange jumper, I feel Scola can do much more. But i believe one of the important thing our PF should be able to do is hit the midrange jumper. otherwise it is no upgrade over Hayes.
Well, he doesn't just have only mid range jumpers, the kid can put it on the floor as well. Not to mention he has much better passing skills than Juwan. And in this new offense, that is going to pay big dividends. Although I agree he needs to work on his defense and be more active on the glass.
Good job batkins. I learned that Scola can hit a bankshot from your previous videos which surprised me. He can score in various ways and is a good passer.
I recorded all these games on FSN, but I still find these vids very helpful and entertaining. Thank you for all your work, Batkins!
He does seem like a better version of Juwan. Releases on his jumpers much quicker and has quicker moves/more athletic. I don't think he's gonna get those easy layups in the NBA though. Honestly I don't know how well his inside game will translate, although being on the floor with Yao might help some.
Scola seems to be an overall quicker version of Juwan Howard, which is pretty good because Juwan Howard's problem was his lack of quickness. Juwan Howard can do more than just hit the midrange shot. He has good handles and court vision, the problem is his handles are often wasted in a halfcourt set since he isn't fast enough to actually dribble by people or quck enough to finish well around the basket. He does a pretty good job pushing the ball and running the point on fast break, though.
Not a exactly a fair comparison, lot more fast breaks in that Euro offense than the Rockets offense last year. I never saw Juwan at the top of the key like Scola in that first play and I never saw Juwan do shake and bake moves like Scola in that first play either. He does appear to be quicker and hustles more though. If Juwan played in that type of offense, his point total might be much higher.
I think it's safe to say that he will probably be upgrade of Juwan. And Scola really doesn't have to be great on defense, just decent or average...besides we need more for his offensive skill so he can make teams pay for doubling Yao.
