I put the wrong link, if Clutch could update my first post with this one. That would be great... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Q_Rs9pTvHU8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Q_Rs9pTvHU8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
You have to be kidding me. Ariza's team is down 28 at the time of the incident, and he decides to try and "block" a breakaway slam. He's not unlucky that rudy fell awkwardly. He's a dirty player who needs a lengthy suspension for being a jerk. Time and context have to be factored into the situation.
Very smart of Kobe not to get involved, you can see in the final seconds of the video that he is just calmly walking while the altercation starts.
So being down 28 points automatically means you should not attempt to make hustle plays and play hard anymore. Gotcha...
You are an idiot if you don't think that is a dirty play. You don't do a roundhouse swing near someone's head even if you have a chance at the ball. Everyone on the court knows it's a dirty play that's why Roy was ready to kick butt. Dirty Play all the way.
This is hilarious. Quote from Odom about leaving bench. A skirmish broke out among the two teams and Ariza was ejected. The Blazers were assessed a pair of technical fouls. In the confusion there were some who said that Odom left the bench, although he denied it. "I stood up, but I stood right there -- I didn't go nowhere," he said. Lol, Lamar is in denile. You would have been better off keeping your mouth shut.
Use your eyes. Watch the video. Time and context don't have much meaning when he was clearly going for the ball.
Hustle play? It was a wild block attempt to me. Even if he wasn't directly going for the head, the chance of him getting a clean block is almost zero. He tried to swat it out of his hand, mid air. Tell me how many people in the league can do that. Even LeBron, who is one of best shot blockers on fast breaks doesn't do that, he blocks the ball while it's in the air, not when the guy is holding it in both hands. If T-mac did that, I would doubt that many people on this board would congratulate him on a "hustle play". Oh yeah, and props to Farmar, who actually went to see how Rudy was, as everyone was shoving each other.
You don't get it. The score and time contribute to how you judge his action. Why yes, if the blazers were down one with 10 seconds in the 4th quarter and ariza gambled on blocking this dunk attempt his action would be more acceptable. Why? Because the game was on the line. Instead he's pissed off in a 28 point game and takes a wild swipe at a guy going for a breakaway jam. Not to mention the guy going for the jam can't protect himself. He wasn't thinking about getting the ball, he was thinking about preventing the dunk by any means necessary. Calling this anything but a dirty play and boneheaded decision is silly.
