T-Mac has been trying to get in "game shape" for the past 3 years....I wonder when he'll finally be in "game shape"?
Tracy did some good things while he was here. He was just too much of a douche last season, hence the nickname: SheMac.
It has been almost two years since he had the surgery. If he still can't fix it mentally that only shows us he is really weak. 2 years, that's a lot. And I am actually buying into that. He looks fine, so does his knee. But he is just not that player, not even close. He will stand on the perimeter and watch his teammates play, most of the time. If he can't score, I don't think his playmaking is enough to keep him on the floor. If he wants to be a factor he has to be consistent. So far he has been bad, 3,8 ppg.
IMPOSSIBLE! Tracy would never say something like that repeatedly for the past 2 years! I bet he didn't say that he is healthier than he's ever been, or that he's going to surprise a lot of people.
The thing about long injuries is that your mind sub-consciously thinks that your still injured, even after your healed. I tore both of my hip growth plates playing basketball in highschool, and even though they eventually healed after the season, I still didn't regain my explosiveness until several months later. I can't imagine going 2 years without playing 100% and then trying to play to your body's maximum potential.
I have dislocated each knee 3 times and mentally I am even scared to even run on the treadmill even though I wear knee braces, I just push myself to do it. IMO TMAC didn't really cared about winning, maybe in the beginning of his career he cared. I think he was in it for the money and now that he is very financially stable he has given up.
Got to give the credit for still thinking he can get to where he once was. I don't know about it being all mental though, I guess he's not yet accepted that it might be age and injuries that are keeping him from doing what he once did. Goof luck to him.
I honestly have been suspecting the mental thing as of late. He still averaged over 15ppg the season befor he left us and his knee is better now than it was then...
It's great to hear that his family still lives here in Houston. People can say what they want about him. T-Mac's a great man and there will always be fond memories with him from a fan's perspective. He was a great scorer, and the injuries overshadowed him as a prolific scorer. It's a shame it didn't work out. I would have loved for him to have won a ring while he was still here.
I can't stand TMac! can't speak for all of the rowdies tonight, but I will not be nice about his return! I'm sure in our section we'll have mixed feelings like the rest of the crowd at the Toyota Center. I became a big time Rockets fan in preseason 07-08, so prior to that, I didn't really pay much attention to him. Other than the 22 win streak, these are my memories of tmac 1. injuries, injuries, injuries: back, shoulder, knee... 2. "The Toronto Game" thank you someone for posting that video 3. When he dressed in his uniform without getting the okay to play 4. asking for more playing time 5. It's my fault 6. announcing micro-fracture surgery before telling the Rockets 7. never making it to the 2nd round "A true person's character is revealed when they face adversity." I never liked the way he carried himself. Whether it was losing, facing criticism, or an injury. I absolutely hated his "I'm going to hold the ball, then shoot a stepback/fadeaway" shot. Never seemed to make those.
