I've never played Halo, but this is good stuff: http://youtube.com/watch?v=QGOfDZxrzmA&mode=related&search=
I can't see the video at work, but I do have a Halo Noob story. When my cousin got Halo2 right after it came out, I went to his house to try it out. We started playing it online with one of his friends. While we were playing my son who was 5 at the time came in and wanted to play. So we gave him the controller. He had no idea what he was doing but we showed him how to aim and shoot. He kept shooting my cousins friend , who was actually on his team. The guy got mad at us, and started complaining and finally quit. I found out about 3 weeks ago when I was talking to him, that he had no idea that it was my son playing with him. Up until that time he was still mad at us for team killing him.
I have never played Halo. Must I play online and talk to other Halo geek dudes to get the "full potential" of this game?
If you're gonna play I highly advise you to play online. Ther eis nothing like getting capped by someone you don't know, and there is nothing like capping someone you don't know. As far as talking to them, that isn't really a requirement, although listening to them can often times be humorous.
I've never played Halo online. I've played it on the system for about 5min, and stopped. I hate having to play with a gamepad. Give me a mouse and keyboard. (i know it's been released on pc). The game does look cool though, the vehicles etc. As for the noobs stuff, it was damn funny. Same kind of crap in Counterstrike Source etc.
Lol I agree. And Red vs. Blue could do it better. And if you don't know Red vs. Blue, then you definitely are a noob!
I used to be same way. I originated from Doom and Quake on the PC and I held a resentment toward console based fps...but after getting Halo that quickly changed. I don't think I could ever go back a mouse and keyboard now.
are you 2 talking strictly about the control scheme, or are you just saying that the Halos were great in their gameplay and presentation, etc? because Halo uses the same dual analog control scheme as any other console FPS nowdays. so I don't see how Halo could have made you love console FPSes if you hated playing them with the controller from before. now if yall just meant that the Halos were such cool games in general that it forced you to play them in spite of the inferior console controller, then I can understand that. personally, mouse+KB will always reign supreme for me (unless they change the design of console controllers, I hear Microsoft is secretly working on a totally new device just for FPSes)...I'm still constantly cursing whenever I do have to play a console FPS due to it being exclusive or whatever. I started using mouse+KB all the way back when Doom 2 first came out (when everyone else was still using only KB), so there's no way I can ever adjust to anything else after all this time and believe me, the *top skilled* mouse+KB FPS players in the world will always beat the top skilled dual analog console controller FPS players, if they could hypothetically play a match against each other in the same game. I put the asterisks there because I don't want to hear anyone saying, 'the top Halo players would beat a lot of mouse+KB players'...well yeah of course, because most players in general are noobs. that would be like saying cynthia cooper or sheryl swoopes could beat a lot of random guys around the world. sure it'd be true, but they could never beat Jordan or T-Mac or Lebron. I'm just comparing the best of the best against each other, and there's no way the console controller players would win
I didn't like playing fps shooters on consoles because I never liked the analog control scheme over the mouse and keyboard. But after getting my Halo SE Xbox, and playing through the game I became intsantly converted. Not so much that the control scheme is better or anything, but just the game itself sucked me into the console fps universe. I could never go back cause a) I'm a console gamer now and b) I'm used to analog sticks so the mouse and keyboard would feel to weird. As for which gamer is better; I'll agree that PC fps gamers hold an advantage primarily because the mouse allows for quicker reactions and better accuracy. So they're only better because of the equipment they use...if you could somehow create a nuetral environment (i.e. use a controller setup that combines both or is totally different) whoever is better would depend largely on the person; where they originated from would be a non-issue.
yeah exactly that's why I'm hoping the rumors of this new Microsoft device are true. I love console games, I just hate console FPS controls
At this point, I've played my BASIC, text-based X-Men DOS game that amounted to two rooms, one of which may or may not have contained a functioning door, more than the majority of the world has played Halo 3.
