Besides sports, video games are a big part of my life. If I'm not playing basketball outside, I'm playing basketball inside. So my question is how many of you play video games and what are your favorites? I like playing RPG's and sports games, along with some FPS and action games. Some of my favorites are: Any Final Fantasy Xenogears NBA 2k2 Madden Nfl (any kind) GTA 3 (a bunch of favorites! )
I haven't played anything after Halo. Nothing has intrigued me on any of the three systems for quite a while now. I'm thinking about plugging in my N64 and playing some classics like Mario Kart or Hang Time.
I don't have an X-BOX, but my friend does. I played a LOT of Halo at his house. I liked it, but I always got my butt kicked cause they had more pratice.
I dunno. NBA 2k2 pisses me off because it all tends to be layups and dunks and teams shooting 60% and up. Madden 2002 absolutely rules the NFL market. For my money, though, you're better off getting an emulator (ZSNES rules!) and downloading 250-500 rompaks. Its all good and its all free! Best game of all time: River City Ransom Kickass!
Nba 2k2 did have its problems, but I liked it a LOT better than NBA Live 2002. Sadly, I bought that and only rented 2k2. I never understood why a 7'6" guy would go for a layup, and either get blocked by a 6" guard or the rim? I do agree that Madden is the king. I may also know a little bit about emulators.
An emulator is a program on your computer that emulates something, in this case a game console. There are certain laws that you must own the game, have it for 24hrs,blah,blah,blah. A rom is a file that is actually the game itself. You need both to play a game on your computer. I only heard this from a friend.
The original METAL GEAR SOLID on Playstation (PSX) rocked... haven't had the extra time or cash for the sequel on PS2. I love the SSX games on PS2, very relaxing to me to snowboard down the "Untracked" course... I own every StarWars title ever produced on PSX, The only one I haven't cared to finish was "Dark Forces"... don't really like the first person view on foot. GT, GT2 were good, but not enough of an interest to get GT3 to me. Driver 2, except for the linear, "do this only, or restart" feel Original NFL BLITZ - if the games are more realistic than this, I don't like 'em (sports sims) HOOPZ is okay for PS2 ALL TEKKEN games rule On XBOX I love Dead or Alive series, and HALO is sweet (RC COLA I feel your pain! My friends always destroy me!) Haven't played much GAMECUBE except the Simpson's Road Rules game, Star Wars stuff looks good on it Sega's best was still any Sonic game, or Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast, but that's all crossing over now since they went all software. Old School honorables: Berzerk - Atari 2600 Galaga - Arcade version (love the remakes on PSX!) Dig-Dug Donkey Kong - Coleco (for Atari 2600) Burger Time - good Pac-Man-esque format, interesting theme Pong - original black and white, self contained, two controller console (have one, you had to sit too close to the TV to play it!) NES - Tecmo Super Bowl ( 120 yard touchdowns from one corner of the endzone diagonally across the screen to the opposite corner of the other endzone, Moon to Givens... gotta love that!) Punch Out was cool, if you could get past "Glass Joe" Super NES - Super Mario Bros. hours of fun! Remember Intellivision? Those goofy keypads that looked like flat telephones, a "SEARS" exclusive I guess all PS format games are my favorite, especially since the PS2 plays all my PSX
pe2000.net GREAT site for emulators and roms. EDIT: Whoops, looks like they've been shut down for now. This site is just as good though: Edge Emulation
Sure, but I'm more old school. Chrono Trigger and FF:3 (or 6, whichever way you look at it) are my favs. Mario RPG was very underrated IMO.
I remember them. FF:3 is one of my favorites. I started out on FF:2(or4) and have been hooked ever since. I was rather young when I played them, but I do remember them. My sister was the one who got me in to RPG's.I likedMario because I could play him in an RPG. I will admit the newer RPG's don't quite have the same feeling that the older ones did.
A while ago someone posted (in a different video game thread) a way to get like 1000 SNES games on a playstation disk. How the heck can I get one of those?
NBA 2k2, in my opinion is pathetic. I mean, all you can do in the games is play a couple of modes, but you cannot put the legends on their respective teams. You ca only trade the current players, and all the camera angles suck, not one of them looks like a real camera feed. Where as the NBA Live PRESS VIEW is outstanding. The graphics are better. In NBA 2k2, A.I. look like a steriod version of himself, just like all the players. I hate the gamelay because of the camera views. Fast breaks are not hard to get in NBA Live, you just have to be good at the game. And, I'll tell you, good players can get defensive boards. the people who say Live is inferior to 2k2, well, they cant play LIVE anyway. LIVE is challenging, and nothing is given to you in superstar mode, you have to practice and get good. Then LIVE turns out becoming a better game than 2k2, because the simulation is better. As Dennis Miller would say, Of course that is my opinion, I could be wrong. LIVE is awesome. 2003 will have vintage Rockets uniforms, I can't wait.
I still consider the live series to be the best, but that my change soon. I just seemed to have more fun with NBA 2k2. Is the crossover is live even usefull? I was also surprised that many rookies were left out of the game. I could always create them, but it was surprising. I also am quite annoyed at the rebounding system. There could be 3 of my guys and one of the their guys and they would get the ball. I was also going to create Yao in it, but the weight doesn't go to 300. This may be the same in 2k2, I didn't check. I like that you could go after loose balls better in 2k2 than live. I don't think I have ever stolen a ball on a inbound pass. Although I do have hopes for 2003. I read they had completely redone some things so I'll give it and 2k3 a rent and decide. This is also just my opinion.
Hi, I'm 29 and am a gameaholic. I love many different types of games, from classic arcade games to GTA 3. I'm very much looking forward to playing Max Payne. DevilsAdvocate traded me that game for something else.
I use the mouse pad that came with Max Payne. Have you heard about that game that seems like a Max Payne clone. I forgot its name but it will come out for the X-Box.
