So I just bought that X-Com game (after being an original fan and hearing Clutchfans giving the thumbs up on it) but I did it as a downloading option. It was the same price which kinda irritates me.

The only reason I did do it as a download option was since Coinstar gives you a giftcard for Xbox Live. So after throwing twenty dollars worth of coins that I wouldn't use (just sitting around the house collecting dust) the game would only cost me 20 more dollars.

Otherwise I would never go for the downloading option if the prices are the same or near same. I would prefer to have the case and manual and all the other stuff that comes with the game.

So how do you all tend to feel on that matter? Does it matter to ya? Do any of you actually prefer downloading over the disc?

I definitely prefer downloading over the disc. I know my games are always there. I can go to my parent's house and install a game if I get bored. I can forget about a game and 2 years later I know where I can find it.
I do think they need to be a little cheaper to reflect.

It sucks for games you may want to sell. Or games in a series like 2k

I used to love having the box, disc, etc, but after years of having to rebuy the same game when I lost or broke the physical copy, digital was a medium I gladly embraced.

For re-selling's sake, it is worth getting the physical copy.

Sometimes you can find good deals on digital copies of older games. This, I don't mind.

    I think it's a case-by-case argument.

Games you know you'll never get tired of: Download.

Series (year after year a newer version comes out): Disc.

COD, 2K, Madden, FIFA, etc. Disc.

Games like Metal Gear Solid: Download.

I prefer buying the disc. Like other posters said, you can always resell it, and you don't have to worry about the licensing issues.

Do you know if downloaded games can transverse to a new system, ie, 360 to 720?

10 years ago I preferred disk.

Downloading is sooooo much more convenient. And the Steam sales! And sites like www.direct2play.com and greenmangaming.com.

i would prefer d/l games. however if there is no price drop in d/l games compared to discs, than discs have more value as they can be resoled towards the purchase of a new game...

companies like gamestop even offer deals like combining multiple games to increase trade in percentages.. if i can get $15-20 on some old games i dont play anymore towards the purchase of a new game that thats what im gonna do..
