Hi fellow clutchfans. I want to create a highlight video of myself of my days in Iraq. I am very limited on what I can do with Windows Movie Maker and would like some suggestions on what programs will enhance my video making capabilities. I understand that I will probably have to shell out some money but it is o.k. Thank you!

ROXIO's VideoWave is a good one. Plenty of effects, easy drag-n-drop... too bad that you can't drag videos onto it.
Nero Vision xPress lets you do some neat output.
I have to think of more. For now, you can also try uLead's line of video-editing software: http://www.ulead.com/products/runme.htm .

Adobe Premiere or Pinnacle Studio are your best bets... you're also looking at several hundred dollars for each program.

The best package for PC, in my opinion, is Vegas Video + DVD. This will give you everything you could possibly want in a video program.

I'm actually rendering a video now and I use a cheap program that came with a professional audio software that I use. The audio software is Samplitude Pro 8.3 and it comes with a cheap video program. You can buy the video program by itself for under 100 bucks and it is surprisingly capable (or at least I hope so... Gotta' have this done by morning).

Decent effects, lots of pro features (although more acurately pro-sumer features), and adequate dvd authoring.

It's called Movie Edit Pro and you can get it from http://site.magix.net/english-us/home/video/movie-edit-pro-11/

The audio software is kick ass, but I will be picking up Vegas Video + DVD at some point in the near future. I do suggest checking out Movie Edit Pro. It really isn't bad. I would not have given it a second look if it didn't happen to come free in the box of my audio software.

Vegas is probably the most comparable product to Final Cut Pro available on the PC platform and is the way to go if bucks allow.

Anyone interested in the audio software can check out www.samplitude.com

    Regards,
    Brock

If you can afford it avid lite or whatever it is called will be the best. It the best you can do without a real avid board.

After that I would say Premiere and Pinnacle though they can be buggy, and it will take some time to work around that.

I use Sony Vegas. It costs me $70 full price from Best Buy. I'm sure you could get a better deal.

Finished the project with Movie Edit Pro early this morning and got if off...

Truly an excellent program for the money. Surpising.

I think you must be mistaken. Vegas Video is more than that. Sony has consumer programs that are in that price.

I used Nero Premium something or other that I got off a Torrent site.

Were you in the army? (stupid question?) When you're finished with you video, post it on Youtube or something and let the rest of us watch it.

I made my units Fallujah Battle DVD video using Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 Videowave (cost me only $59 at Office Depot last year). It came out very nice, about 30min long with a combination of real battle footage, pictures, etc (too big to post on YouTube). I've used Pinnacle and Adobe Premeire, but for the money and ease of use, the Roxio is a pretty damn good buy.

Avid, Final Cut Pro or Premiere...if you're serious.

    Pinnacle sucks.
