A solid outting from Lee but he has shot the ball well all year. This type of performance should come as no surprise.

I love that at least half of Lee's points came with the help from his teammates. Sweet passes from Budinger, Battier and Brooks, and a really nice screen set by Patterson.

I am VERY intrigued by CLee and his potential as a starter. We know he did it in Orlando but was arguably the weakest link, or tied with Rafer, on that squad so not much responsibility was thrust upon him. If Martin did get dealt, I would be interested to see what Lee could do given his minutes. Not saying he would be the scoring machine Martin is most of the time, but he would hopefully provide more balance to the first unit.

I don't know why he can't put it together. He really should be a bonafide starting SG in this league.

    Great defensive player
    Good jump shot
    Huge hops

He doesn't seem like a player that likes to play with contact, doesn't really go hard to the basket or draws contact much on his drives. If he can develop an adequate dribble drive game, he is a legit shooting guard.

Mentally I worry about him, his choking in the 4th quarter is well known.

But talent wise, how is he worse than Jason Richardson?

There's more to the offensive game than that.
He was clutch and played pretty much in control. I do worry about him, but last night was a good sign.
Richardson is more offensive-minded and Lee more defensive-minded. If you go by tags, the former would be considered a scorer and the latter a defender.

I think Courtney has peaked as a solid role-player; you can feel how he approaches the game like an established veteran who only tries to do what he does best as opposed to a player trying to expand his game or show he can do more. As a starter, I think his production would be the same adjusted by an increase of minutes; he would be great as a compliment to a solid wing scorer and very competent on offense for a role player.

He reminds me of Derrick Rose. They have a similar swag.

So do you think that with Brooks as the PGuard and lets say Iggy or Granger as the SF he could thrive as a solid two way SG?

Though you bring up some good points, bolded above, the one that I would beg to differ with is that Courtney Lee has peaked.

He is still on his rookie contract! There is definitely still room for growth in his game. He is, right now, "a compliment to a solid wing scorer and very competent on offense" and a great defender that is great on the break.

Perhaps, by the time he is to sign his next contract, Lee will have expanded his game.

he's not fast laterally with the ball...he can jet north and south, has rockets going vertically, but laterally with the ball, not so much. Hate to say it, but he needs to learn how to carry the ball.

Lee has proven he can shoot and make plays. We need to go to him more often. He could be a really efficient scorer and obviously he's defense is top-notch.

I'd really like to see what he can do as a starter.

Solid? Yes, I am on board with you on this. With guys like Brooks and Granger, Courtney is a solid Starter.

I would love to be wrong but where do you see him expanding his game?

He can take it to the basket but doesn't have the handles to do it in traffic or to beat his man off the dribble; he is an adequate passer at best but is not a playmaker. I think he is great as a 4th option but debatable as a 3rd one.

gah, your analysis of Courtney's game continues to be spot on.

Definitely, with improved personnel on this team, comes an improved Lee.

I'm just saying that Lee has not hit his ceiling at all.
