I have a miniDV camera and I would like to put my videos on my PC. I've tried Windows Movie Maker 2 and it works well but it only encodes in a proprietary microsoft format. I would like to encode in AVI but I haven't been able to find a software that would do so and also keep the file size small. Could someone point me in the right direction?

I have a canon digital camera where I can tape little clips of things and on my computer, there's this program where I can make videos of things [putting clips together, etc]. I think it came along with the CD my brother installed onto the comp but you can check it out. It's called VideoImpression 1.7 and there's a website.. www.arcsoft.com
Hope it has what you need
