Barkley is often very dismissive of how good he was when he was playing for us. But people need to check the numbers. He was still really good.
One of the few videos you've posted in the GARM that I really enjoyed. Maybe it's because there was none of the '99 stuff being thrown down our throats....etc. Thanks for sharing this.
Really like how Barkley is humble and completely honest about what was on the table, not many players are liek that.
The entire piece was a great piece. I liked it. Barkly being that candid was great. I wish it was styled a little better, maybe more like a 2 h documentary. I think he kinda just touched on things on the surface. Plus, they wanted to slip in a bunch of the crap he did on TNT, and I don't give a damn about that era. He's a great sportscaster, but let's be frank we love him for the player he was.
That TNT team....best ever. Whole package. Entertainers, bball dissection, locker room insight. Championship team.
No mentioning his gambling problem? I wish it was more documentary style than just a light surface filler piece.
They definitely wee not too old. We however def need better players surrounding them.... Matt maloney was a joke.... I love chuck but we gave waaaay too much up.
I agree. 96-97 was our last real window. 97-98 was already nearly closed. 99 was just smoke. Not real contenders.
Someone needs to tell Chuck that beating the Sonics was more satisfying than winning a third. Maybe not for him, of course, but for many of us who hated Seattle.
Would have liked to hear about Pippen's coming down and Chuck taking less money. He seemed pretty bitter about that for a few years. Also would have loved to hear him talk about throwing that dude through a plate-glass window. One of the all-time greats and one of my favorite Rockets.
First championship was great. Second was super great. A third championship in a different era with different players would be special. I'm still waiting. I want to be at the parade someday.
I like how he called McHale "the best". Best what? "Best I played against". Then they get to Tim Duncan and he says "best ever". And MJ was "the greatest". BTW, he does a Carlos Delfino at 28:32 (or maybe Carlos did a Chuckster).
