That's really sad, you could tell that they were in complete disbelief. They even hugged each other...crazy.

From the article: Uhhh...call me crazy, but I don't think trying to prevent the spread of AIDS is particularly cruel. I mean, don't get me wrong: if there was inhumane treatment in the facility in which they were tested, I'm glad they've been saved. But animal testing for something as major as AIDS is not only not cruel, it's probably necessary if a vaccine is to be found. I love animals as much as the next guy, but I don't automatically equate animal testing to cruelty. Consider this: source If the tests had proved fruitful, and a vaccine was discovered, I doubt people would be talking about how "cruel" they were. They'd probably be more focused on the millions of global lives (including one million people who are living with HIV in the USA) that could be saved.
That sounds pretty cruel. When those monkeys came out of that prison they seemed to react the same way people would. Hugging each other kind of shocked by the world. If this research is so important why not test this stuff on humans. O I forgot, they did do that to a poor third world country. Taking advantage of the weak to me has no justification.
Let's see. Kill animals to save human lives or kill humans to save human lives. I'm 100% advocating animal research. Whatever it takes. Because at the end of the day [insert any animal species you want here; doesn't make a difference] are not the dominant species on the planet. And its not like I don't love animals. Dogs are amazing creatures, and there are a lot of animals species that you just come to adore. But once again, at the end of the day they are expendable compared to (well, excluding criminals, mass murderers, assholes) humans.
That is one hell of a video, to see chimps react like they did, actually realizing what's going on is simply amazing.
Yeah it really is, you show that to a group of young teenagers and ask them if it's real or fake, I'd bet they all say fake, chimps don't do that. I like the last 5 seconds with the last chimp touching the wall outside and getting freaked out that it was real.

I feel terrible for the person who wasted their time putting together such a complete fail of a video.
Right there with you. There was a comedian I was watching once...might have actually been Dennis Leary...who said something to the effect of "If hooking a monkey's scrotum up to a car battery was going to cure cancer, F***ING HOOK HIM UP ALREADY!"
Well of course you do it if you know it will cure cancer. Hell, I'd do it to myself if it guaranteed results. Wouldn't you?
I don't know man If you asked me if I had to choice to save an endangered species (for example: panda) or a dying homeless person I'm not sure I would pick the human every time...
There's quite a bit of difference between saving an entire species and saving one animal. I'm not saying animal life is expendable. But neither is human life, and if we have the ability to develop, or attempt to develop, life-saving medicine, it would be cruel, heartless and inhumane NOT to do so.
