It was reported today on the Astros spring training radio broadcast that Hall goes back to the DBacks now. I don't have a link to a story yet but I will find one.

The Rockies selected Hall from the DBacks in the rule V draft. The Astros traded Cruz to the Rockies for Hall. Hall has to be offered back to Arizona if the Astros don't keep him on the 25 man roster all year. The Astros had the option of working out a trade with Arizona.

So basically we delt Cruz for a roster spot to be filled by someone making the minimum.

More like a free release with a chance of a good young player.

As it turned out the Astros dealt Cruz for $25,000.
