VHS trouble

    Yes, people still use that format. ;)

    I've been recording a tape in SLP mode and recently fast-forwarded to the end of the part that had already been used. Now the tape is stuck. Not physically stuck in the VCR. The tape won't play, rewind, fast forward, or (sadly) continue recording past its current place.

    Any options or is it dead?

    I remember that there should be a little thing on the tape that you can push down with a pencil and then manual rewind the tape by hand to the point where it would start working again..

    YEAP. The whole is in between the two reels on the back side (the one without the screen on the reels). The thing to push looks white, and you will have to hold it while you rewind. Check to see if something is not broken inside, as there might be plastic impeding the winding.

    Does anybody have any extra 5 1/2 inch disks for an Apple IIE external floppy drive? I'm getting disk read errors like nobody's business...

    I've got some, but they're single-sided. You'll have to use a hole-punch tool to cut a notch on one side and then format the other side.

    I think I got it off one of my Eddie Murphy records on vinyl. :)

    No need to get upset...I don't even have a cell phone, so it's not like I'm up to speed on the latest technology....

    I worked at a video duplication company back in the Beta Max and VHS days.

    Betas did appear better (and you payed for it too) until vhs went from 2 to 4 heads. Beta was only better because before then it wrapped around the cylinder more allowing 2 heads to attach simultaneously allowing for a smoother video. When vhs went to 4 heads, they didn't need to change the design and were not only better, but had good freeze frame capabilities.

    The design of beta max was it's down fall and there were flaws that caused it to break down often.

    This is my personal opinion from repairing both.

    How can ANYTHING be bigger than a free Big Mac? HelloooOooOoo...? Duh. The name says it all. BIG MAC. BIG Mac. Until McDonald's comes out with the Bigger Mac, you will have NOTHING bigger than the BIG mac. C'mon now... use common sense, man!!!! Get a hold of yourself!
