    [NBATV] Carlisle new Mavs Coach?

The ever reliable Peter Vescey reported on NBATV that Rick Carlisle will be the new Dallas head coach.

He is a good choice. He emphasizes defense, something Mavs need to work on.

I doubt he can teach Jason Kidd how to shoot though, which should be Mavs biggest concern right now.

Excellent choice. Always fond of Rick Carlisle. Oh! Another Rick.

Always think Carlisle is one of the better coach that can take a team deep into the playoffs as versus the dud who blew 2 playoffs series with 2-0 leads.

Damn another good defensive minded coach in our division. Next year is going to be painful.

He does emphasize defense and can improve half court offense, but he is a slow methodical guy and some of the Mavs will find it hard to adjust to him. I don't know if he has good communication skills either.

    Well better he than JVG.
But Carlisle is a good coach..

    THIS SUX!

why couldn't Isaiah Thomas take that job? And then maybe take over their GM duties too.

They need a change in personnel, only coaching isn't going to get the job done.

    Unimaginative offense? Check.
Loses players after a few years. Check.
    Lack of playoff success? Check.

Didn't they just get rid of this type of coach? Remember that high flying offense in Detroit and Indiana? Me neither.

Carlisle's style doesn't seem to fit at all with the type of players Cuban prefers. You have two strong-willed, large-ego people in charge with different philosophies. I expect fireworks, not success, in Dallas.

    Very true.
    Thank you.

I needed some encouragement after a night like this.

Carlisle is a great coach. Lateral move though.

    Blow up that team.

There isn't a coach in the league that can get the Mavs to the Finals. There is too much psychological damage done to that team from all the choking. Seriously, it is time to bring in some new parts. I don't think anyone on that roster should be off limits.

Bad fit. Carlisle is a good coach for a team like the Bulls, but he's overly-deliberate and micromanaging in his style for a veteran squad like the Mavs. I don't see how a guy that advocates a slow-down offense and calls over half of his team's plays is going to do anything but chafe guys like Kidd and Dirk.

Wait, did I say bad fit? GREAT HIRE CUBAN!!!

They shouldn't have fired Avery in the first place.

They should have fired Avery last year and gone for Adelman. Adelman's offense would have worked, but their defense would be great also. He won't micromanage like Carlisle, either. Too bad, so sad. We got Adelman now. :D
