In case you missed it on CNBC, Peter Vescey gave credit to all the ex Rockets except Kenny Smith. It wasn't much, but he acknowledged how well all the championship Rockets have done since the breakup of the team. No surprise to any of us, but it was nice to get that said Nationally, even if it was Peter. ------------------ humble, but hungry. When Vesey talks, I always wonder: A. He is just getting senile. B. He gets his ideas during ether halucinations. Most likey a little of both. ------------------ "Chucky who? I thought we were talking about basketball?" Charles Barkley
All the ex-Rockets who have been successful elsewhere have been role players... Elie - SA - w/Duncan and Robinson Horry - LA - w/Shaq and Kobe Cassell - Mil - w/Allen and G. Robinson Am I leaving anyone off the list? ------------------
True dat, but you can't argue with the fact that they are winning basketball games, hitting clutch shots, and winning championships. It should also be noted, ironically, that many of the Bulls role players have done quite well for themselves to, Grant, Kerr, Harper ect.. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
I always wonder just how big Peter's ego is? Sometimes it makes me sick to listen to him. I love it when he's wrong, but he had a point. Those guys are enjoying some success, and they play their roles well. How about the game Horry had? He saved them last night. I have always liked his game and hope we see him in a Rockets jersey again someday.
Maybe you should watch a little more basketball. Sam-I-Am is quite a bit more than a role player. ------------------
I threw Cassell in the list. I couldn't think of any other well known ex-Rockets who have been successful. A guy who averaged 18.2 PPG this season is definitely not a role player. He is the third best player on his team. [This message has been edited by Smokey (edited June 11, 2001).]
I couldn't think of any other well known ex-Rockets who have been successful. I hear Chris Jent is tearing it up at the Y. Also, Earl Cureton and Charles Jones have dominated the geriatric league. ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
I'll bet Sam Mack is a superstar in the prison league. ------------------ Bingbong was set up, led to an untimely death in the prime of his life for no other reason than pure malice. Things like that do not go unavenged. Sometimes it spills out onto the field of play.
I hear that Bill Curley can detail a car like NOBODY'S business... ------------------ If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding!!
Damn! U had me cackling! worth two smiles ------------------ "The man who goes alone can start today; but he who travels with another must wait till the other is ready." -HDT
Lets not forget Pippen now.. lol "NOT" ------------------ "If I can't beat you, I'll be a man and say I can't beat you. I'm not going to [cry about it]... I'm the first guy to say that somebody is better than me. I was the first guy to say Hakeem Olajuwon beat me in the [1995] NBA finals. He killed me. He dominated me. I didn't go, 'Oh, he's traveling. They had experience. Wah-wah-wah.' I'm a man. Hakeem Olajuwon dusted my butt." -- Shaquille O'Neal, responding to the Blazers' complaints in the first round of the 2001 NBA playoffs
Cassell is no longer a role player thats for sure, but when he was in Houston he was. Hes a great player. Didn't mean to sound ignorant, sorry.
Let me say one thing,if Cassell leaves this year Milwaukee better pick up Payton because I dont see any other Points out there that can take his place at this time. Sam I Am is now the most underated player in the league,IMO. Damn he gets simular numbers to Francis,Payton, and Kidd now but still some NBA analyist still leave him out of there top 10 forget 5! ------------------ Sam Clancy...Sam Clancy...Sam Clancy...Sam Clancy...Sam Clancy
Pippen has 6 rings.......he is gonna be a great player no matter where he goes. ------------------ --President of the Robert Horry Fan Club--
