Average Monthly Turnovers November--15.7 December--15.7 January--15.1 February--14.5 Monthly Average Assists November--17.1 December--18.3 January--19.1 February--20.2 It does not matter whether you are a Rockets fan or YOF, or SOF, you have to love these trends.
i like it, but i would like to see our fast break #s. Have they been going up also, if at all? thanks for the stats btw
Somehow I just can't believe we averaged under 16 turnovers a game in any month for as far back as I can remember.
Oops. I messed up the TO numbers. We are averaging 16 TOs for the season. Will check the stats again but I do believe that the trend is down.
I like the trend but something doesn't add up. Looking at the Rockets averages on NBA.com it shows team turnovers for this year at 16.4. Can someone confirm the numbers?
actually, the Rockets are averaging 22.4 assists in February... his turnover totals don't count the team turnovers like 24 second violations
I used the spread sheet to recalculate Rockets TO for the season. And the results are: November 22 14 22 15 15 13 14 19 18 11 16 17 15 17 7 15.7 December 23 15 12 15 20 13 14 10 14 16 10 12 19 16 19 15.2 January 15 18 15 13 16 21 16 17 12 11 17 10 10 22 13 15 February 16 10 16 17 16 12 17 14.9 I don't see how the NBA.com shows that we average 16.4 TO/game?
Are you including 24-second clock violations & offensive fouls, or just steals and bad passes and that kind of thing?
Yo oliver, take a look at the box scores for those games at NBA.com. Look at the VERY bottom right corner of each box score and you'll see a stat for "total turnovers"....you're welcome... Here's an example... http://www.nba.com/games/20031101/MEMHOU/boxscore.html Plus, the Rockets played a game in October...
Do offensive fouls count as team turnovers, or a turnover against the player that committed the foul? I think team turnovers are 24 second violations and 3 second violations... ...and what the heck is a team rebound?
While everyone has been complaining and proposing trades the team has been playing better if you actually watch. And that improvement has included mainly Steve, Jim Jackson, and Yao. Cuttino was already playing very well, and I think Cato has sort of fallen off.
A team rebound is when the ball comes off the rim and hits the floor several times. It's almost like a loose ball and whoever gets it, their team gets a team rebound. It's one of those hussle stats I guess.
Here's another intriguing stat. Disclaimer: I read this on ESPN.com, last week, and since then the blurb has disappeared. I don't have a link. So if you'd like, consider this a rumor. That being said: This year, the Rockets have posted a winning record in each calendar month. That's the first time this has happened since 1994. (The blurb might have said 1995, I forget which). So far all the heated talk about lack of consistency, in some ways this has been the MOST consistent season the Rockets have had since the title years. At first I found this stat shocking, but when you think about it, it makes sense. In the afterglow of that first championship, every regular season, even the good ones, still had some stretch of ugly play. We only remember the good times. So here's to the 2003 Rockets and to Jeff Van Gundy.
Another "Very intriguing stats about the Rockets" is that they lead the league in Opponents' field goal percentage: 39.5%. If this can be maintained till the end of the season, it will be an all time record.
no a team rebound is a rebound were the bal goes out of bound. so when the opponents grab the bal but in the proces loose it and it goes out of bouns, the rockets get the bal, but nobody of the team gets it. i believe that what you discribed is a rebound for the guy who picks the bal up
No he had it right. No one gets credit for a rebound if the ball hits the ground before any individual establishes possession. It is credited as a team rebound. I guess 'cause they figure the team did a good job of boxing out the opponents? I dunno.
i think team rebounds are any missed shot that is not individually rebounded. i.e. missed shot over the backboard, missed shot out of bounds, or even missed free throws (though maybe that was only for technicals). i think it's because every missed shot must have some sort of associated rebound.
