[verizon] touchscreen w/o stylus new phones (iphone? what is that?) http://www.verizonwireless.com/next there's a few new phones that vzw is coming out with that are kinda cool... not posting because i work for 'em, but just for the folks that are looking for iphone alternatives i guess. both of the lg's look sexy as hell (i'll probably get the venus). touchscreens w/o stylii (sp?), mp3, broadband (i'm pretty sure you'll be able to tether as modem to laptop), pix, vids, 2.0 megapix cam and vid... what's not to like? not sure how much they'll cost though. the voyager has a touchscreen in addition to a keyboard if you want to go that route. the samsung juke, iirc, has several gigs of internal storage in addition to a sd card slot. rotates 180 to reveal a keyboard i think the last is the pearl. meh. tmobe's has had it for a while. dave, ... miguel, ... thoughts? /cellphone whorism
The phone I'm currently using right now ... got it in Tiawan. Touchscreen with built in GPS Navigation (TomTom) Window Mobile 5.0
Any ideas when the XV6800 will come out? It fixes a major flaw from the Sprint version with 32mb more RAM. Kind of ugly looking, but it's leagues beyond the XV6700 and a great upgrade. Still no real GPS though. And for those who are looking forward to the HTC Touch (don't know if Verizon will pick it up), the finger friendly software for that thing is on top of the Windows Mobile shell. So with the added ram, it would be perfect for the 6800.
looks like a white 6800 (though a nice celly). 6800 is pretty sweet. got to play with it a little while at work. still no release date. pretty sure it was pushed back because of the whole sprint thingee that you mentioned. liked it better than the samsung i760 that's getting ready to hit the market. never been to fond of pda's though. get a tetherable (sp?) phone and browse that way. the mobile web browser on a cell will suffice until you get home to your computer. venus or voyager from the link above should kick ass.
the Voyager is what I'm hyped for, at first, I thought it was going to be just an updated version of the enV with a touchscreen, but its more than that. Apparently it has the memory card slot that supports up to 8 gigs, has a full HTML browser, and from the screens we've seen, its pretty much identical to the iPhone layout/presentation. I love how the ads we see at work say "REMOVABLE BATTERY" which I literally almost floored. At first I didn't care about them, but once they forced it on our desktops as our Wallpaper, it may talk me into buying one. As for the UT Starcom 6800, its been delayed so much. I have played with it, in which its not bad. I'm going the other way as I favor the Samsung i760 over this phone, cause probably cause I own the Samsung i730 and I love how the i760 has the outside keyboard while the 6800 doesnt. Don't forget Omega, the Voyager will have VCast Mobile TV, of course, doesnt matter to us here in Houston, until we get the damn service... also thanks Omega for ummm.... the boost of sales to better my paychecks , especially the one in Feb
yah... you're prob right. the venus may be a suped up chocolate (damn that phone). touch-sensitive/touchscreen on a regular cellphone... not that much of a diff. voyager on the other hand... yah, it'll kick ass. seeing some of the demos of that... well... it has more bulk that the iphone, but it seems like it has more to offer. the front button layout of the i760 bothered me a little bit. that's why i prefer the 6800 though the processors in utstarcom devices have sucked in the past. you have the i730 right? best pocket pc we've come out with. lg is the schit. we need the prada.
We're such whores. I want the voyager. It better be like, 200. Although i can hopefully sell my recently refurbed MotoQ (coughkeypadcough) in late december before I can upgrade.
can't be more than 250... for us (not including rebates/online discounts etc, i would think). pretty pissed that i got my 8700 a couple of months ago (which is still a slick ass phone. get comps on it all the time, but scratches like hell). /?=verizonwireless... heheh. too bad we can't post that way though (or can we?). voyager it is. it is teh fone 2 bEet teh eyephone!
I did some searching, and I must say the Voyager looks impressive. I wonder what the price diff between it and the Venus is. I don't think you can go wrong with all of these new impressive touch screen phones. It'll be interesting to see how apple responds next year. The 6800 has a dual core processor (IIRC 400mhz and 140 for calls)which should help performance issues. I like modding and customizing the Sprint one I own, but I doubt non-geek users will spend the time or like the fugly look of the VZN version.
