John Kerry's name ought to be in the mix. He's been getting a lot of press. Now that would be a dream come true.
Wes Clark would be a nice touch. Compare the Dem's version of a military man to the one the Repubs have put up...
I don't even know who I want anymore. I'd be very happy with Biden, Clark or Sebelius. Not so much Bayh or Kaine. One thing I've been thinking about is that it seems unlikely he'll choose someone like Bayh or Kaine just due to the fact that the campaign's hyping this text message announcement. It's hard to imagine getting a text if the pick isn't something of a splash. Of the names above, I'd say Biden, Clark, Sebelius, Clinton and (in a very different way) Hagel would qualify. It would seem really weird to me to hype this text thing for a week and then send out a text saying, "It's Evan Bayh!" or "It's Chet Edwards!" I have no idea who it will be but I've been somewhat persuaded Biden's the favorite now if for no other reason than how uncharacteristically quiet he's been the last few weeks. He's usually on the Sunday shows about twice a month. These days they're still apparently calling him but he's apparently saying he can't talk. If I had to make a bet right now, I'd bet on him.
Why not a blue dog like Ford Jr. ? ( I know... he didn't beat Corker, but Corker has proven to be a strong leader in TN...this doesn't really hurt Ford Jr.)
That is a good point, and got me thinking. Maybe it really will be Biden. I've been hoping it was going to be Sebelius for some time now, but I had previously written her off. Now I don't know what to think.
I agree with Batman about Kaine and Bayh being red herrings. All day yesterday I thought Sebelius had it because it was announced that she would speak at the convention but the date and time were tba. That seemed like a hint. And then they announced what date and time she would be speaking... I think the same thing has happened with Bayh and Biden. As for Clark, he wont say whether he will be attending the convention at all. And then there is that business about the theme of the night being the name of his PAC... I'd put my money on the general.
One thing to note - 538 made a going point about this after initially promoing the Sebelius thing. The convention day/time planners are seperate from the Obama VP people. If the Obama VP people were to tell them who is VP to keep them unscheduled, it would almost certainly leak to the media. Chances are, the convention planners have no idea who the VP pick will be when doing scheduling, so if any of those guys are VP, they would probably just flip the schedule around.
Biden would make a great attack dog....Biden is my favorite to be VP, but I still think he will surprise everyone and pick Clinton for some reason.
