Hmm... I smell flesh burning. Yeow. Vecsey decided to unleash all at once on C-Webb. I liked the "cower forward" line. Hehe. But Vecsey is still on my hated list. [IMG]

1st thing that jumped out is when he
was talking about the DEEP Kings roster
    Versey left out J-Dub . . .

Another thing .. .. How long has His ankles
been bothering him . . .cause i remember Cato
being OUT!! alot longer .. and according to
the radio interview. .. CATO FELT RUSHED
    to get back . . .

I won't even mention grant hill
[Notice Versey didn't touch the golden child
    either . . . .u cannot talk ankles without
mentioning the Golden Ankle of Hill . .
what has it been . . .. two years??? and
    two surgeries?]

[ok I'm sensative about crap about ankle
injuries since i broke mine twice]

Ohhhh! Ouch. Daaayuuum...he sure WAS harsh. I do see his point about Camby, though. The guy's decent on the defensive end. I hope Chris signs with us, he and Steve are voted to the All-Star game every year, and we start winning some titles. Oooh, do ya feel me?

I have to wonder about sports writers. Their only talents are word processing and jock sniffing. Now that Vecsey realizes the Knicks are probably out of the Webber hunt, he feels free to write this sort of scathing trash.

Webber played poorly because he was exhausted. At the end of his mental rope. He played great in last year's playoffs; anyone remember? That's because he had to keep himself wired tight and perform in the clutch. He wasn't a short-timer then.

Vecsey has espoused all year that Webber should stay in Sacramento. Fine, Pete. Great. Tell you what. Let's say the following scenario is possible: that the New York desks transfers you to work at the Sacramento Bee for three years and you can work nowhere else and publish no freelance articles, nothing. You just work at the Sacramento Bee. See how you like it.Until that happens, Vecsey, keep your damn drunken-ass somebody-must-owe-you-big Barkley-hates-you-and-so-do-I mouth shut.

On the other hand, I've mentioned before: this is the kind of spotlight that you're gonna get as a player in New York. The media is ruthless. Blinebury and Robertson suck often and suck hard, but the spotlight is far less harsh in Houston.

    Love these quotes
Fourteen free-throw attempts in three crucial conflicts?
"Apparently C-Ya Webb's goal is to become Antoine Walker in a different time zone."

"Know the difference between Nick Anderson and Chris Webber? Anderson actually got to the line in big games with the verdict in doubt. "

"And then there's C-Ya Webb defense, affectionately known around the league (and behind his back during stretches) as C-Webb's man do whatever he pleases."

Those first two were funny, but he tried way too hard with that last quote.

    Vescey is such a jackass.

this vescey dude is really getting on my nerves!!!! He talks about the "wonderful players" surrounding Webber, in Suckramento, players like "Peja Stojakovic, one of the league's elite small forwards, All-Star Vlade Divac, Doug Christie, Hidayet Turkoglu, Scott Pollard, Bobby Jackson and Jon Barry." Stojakovic, who is very good and has wonderful potential, has had only one good season. How does that make him a elite SF in the NBA? Vlade Divac a allstar!?!?!? Turkoglu, who has potential, a good player after one good game?!?! With that thinking i guess Cato is one of the best centers in the NbA. Pollard a good player?!?! My god how the heck are you working as a sports commentators, Vescey?!?! They may be good players, but is it Webber's fault that they sucked ass during the Lakers series? I dont think so

    Vescey is stupid.....

    This was my favorite quote:

"So total was the torching that the Kings' new logo will feature a burned shell of an automobile outside Staples Center, complete with dental records."

I laughed so hard at that I couldn't breathe.

Well, Charles Barkley refuses to do TNT when Vescey is on. That's because Sir Charles says he's full of Sh%t. Sir Charles has always spoken the truth about other people. The only person he lies about is himself. CWebb is dominant. With a good point guard like Stevie, he would excell. J. Williams plays like a joke.

I'm with you and Barkley on this one
    Peter is a . . PETER [DICK!!]
He is a Tabloid Sports Writer

Chris Webber did not play his best ball.
    Did anyone else step up?
    Shaq has Kobe
    Tim has David
U mean to tell me peja [who's defense is a
lil suspect too] and Vlade are great back ups

Let's see what they do without Chris

I'll disagree with you on J-W. He does have a much better ability to get the ball to players where they want it. I guarantee C-webb will have more layups playing with J-W than with Stevie.
I will resist my urges to say that J-W is a better PG than Stevie but I will say J-W is a better passer than Stevie. Stevie is a better player overall I know that, but J-W makes better passes and gets the ball to his teammates where they want the ball, not necessarily to pass them the ball when he has to.
Also in the series Peja played very well and he is a good NBA player, but not a superstar. Vlade also was a better center day in and day out than what we had this year. Dream played great at times but was often injured or sulking.
Bottom line is C-Webb should have had his way against Grant & Horry. He had a couple good games and I know he was injured but he didn't step up every game.
Also I think even if Sac doesn't get anyone in return for C-webb that they could be near .500 next year. Not a playoff team but far from a laughinstock.

That's exactly the point. He never does when it's all on the line.

I agree with everything Vescey said. Jackass or no, he makes a very solid argument.

Take the rose-colored "C-Webb" glasses off, people. Look at the man, not at the myth. Our beloved Rockets are looking to bring a prolific choker into the fold.

It's been said several times in other threads that Webber can coast to 25 and 12 (or somewhere around there, depending on the thread) from night to night. Coast.....that's really the operative word, isn't it? What would the man be able to accomplish if he played with fire and desire? What kind of an inside presence would he be if he weren't afraid to take the ball up against the Shaq's and the Duncans of the world? If he'd only try, I bet he'd find more success than failure.

But he won't. He won't try. He's content to rest on his laurels and coast to respectable numbers. And some of you have said that you're fine with that.....you'll take that over what we have.

Well, what happens when our team makes it to the playoffs after having been used to "C-Webb" putting up stellar numbers all season long.....and then he pulls his disappearing act again. What sort of....dare I say?.....an example does that set? What does that do to team chemistry?

Why are you all so blind to the Truth?

Well, boys and girls, you will see. If we do in fact sign on to the Chris Webber show for six or seven seasons...you will see. We all will.

I, for one, am scared to death.

That sure was critical, but it's not like Vecsey's opinion really matters.
