McHale & Morey want him for those easy transition buckets.

to argue one is affecting the team's d by being on and off court is a joke with those kind of stats. That doesn't take into account roles, and how much time he spent with the bench or not.. if there was a defensive anchor... this crap doesn't even begin to show if someone can ball or not.

I'm not sure what's with the selective quoting. The main part of the article states something entirely different. And basically sums up as "Not a good player, but fit the Rockets scheme and weaknesses covered up by the scheme." If anything, it suggests he may be a hidden gem despite superficial deficiencies.

The Rockets defense last year wasn't terrible, it's not terrible this year. The only difference is the rate at which they scored last year and the pace of the game. They play with half court sets, slower, at a pace which gives them fewer chances to score but also gives the opposing teams less scoring opportunities.

Looks like he suffers from Harden Syndrome. Harden looks like he cured his problems....maybe he can help out Brewer too.

Wolves are garbage, put Brewer on a decent team and he will ball. Let's compare these figures the OP posted to Brewer's figures after the all-star break.

I agree and I would add the russian, a pg with natural instincts, will also help us a whole lot. Playing on a very good team and many times with one and/or two superstars will make their talents shine. In other words, they will likely look better than what they are, which is what we need.

As trading asset he's fine, but we do have Ariza already.

Woah, this guy has teh formulas and alogrithims to make analytics. Les obviously screwed up by hiring Mury instead of this guy who is the REAL wizurd.

I'll trust the guy who is an actual GM.

I don't think they traded for him to add defense, I think they traded for him because he is a walking fast break, which is something we lost with parsons and Lin.

Repped for being the first to actually read the article and properly summarize it.

This plus with the rockets new elit defensive scheme I'm pretty sure morey and the coaching staff has analyzed Corey's defense and concluded that he will not make it any worse than it is

The assessment is fair but you have to consider a players mentality when playing for teams in different positions. In Minnesota, less-calculated gambling risks on Minnesota are more tolerable in Minnesota vs houston. In houston, his on ball defense will be better, but his league leading steals per game will go down.

That is what is needed. I hope he can make the adjustment, and step up to the plate. His good relationship with McHale can be a helpful factor in this.

he may not be the best defender, or the best on offense, but he showed that he is actually a decent passer by averaging almost 5apg since playing pg in mini once all of their real pgs were injured.

he also forces turn overs for the opponents at a high rate, which improves our team's fast break opportunities. he's also a great finisher on the break.

even if all of that were false, he is still better on both ends than johnson, daniels, and garcia, while adding a contract that can be flipped at the deadline.

The difference between Minnesota and Houston defensive scheme is the difference between Pekovic and Dwight Howard. We WANT big time scramblers and gamblers on defense because we have Dwight to clean up the messes. Pekovic simply cannot do what Dwight does defensively. Not even close.
