Search is down so I couldn't find the original thread, but that title was mis-leading anyway because it implied the tour wasn't going to happen when obviously... it is. I didn't want to go originally because of Eddie's 'condition' and the fact that MA won't be playing bass. But the more YouTube videos I see of their rehearsals, the more I'm starting to change my tune. Eddie looks and sounds great and DLR is.... well, DLR. He seems low key in these videos but you know when there are 20,000 people instead of 2,000 people he will get back to being the Diamond Dave that we all know and love. Dude we should get a BBS group together for this one.... Im in. Big time. PS - They sound tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
in I saw em years ago at the beginning of their careers, its only fitting I should see them at the end.
Leave Wolfgang alone! He's a human bass player person. You got a problem with him...then you go talk to Eddie. Your lucky he plays at all and VH wouldn't have a bass player without him (Mike Anthony is on the outhouse list) and they wouldn't be touring! Where would we be then? Leave him alone! Blah blah blah! Sorry...I couldn't help myself.
One of my dear friends is the drum tech for Alex on this tour. He's done it once before and is on the road playing drums with Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony at the moment. When they come through Houston, I'm going to try and finagle a backstage pass. I handle all his web stuff for him, so maybe he'll oblige. He and another good friend of mine were at the rehearsals in LA. They said they sound killa.
Yeah, he's a kid not in the original band playing with 50 year old men ~ he looks completely out of place.
Dude - Dont knock on Jack Daniels like that! MA is a badass with a fat bottom end. He held down the back end like an animal! Wolfie looks like a fat pud, but all indications are that he can play. Stage presence??? Thats a different story.....
they sound way better than i thought they would - i would definitely see this! wolfgang doesnt sound bad, but they do miss michael anthonys vocals, stage presence and beard. and michael anthony didnt use a pick! play bass like a man wolfie!
I sure hope Ed doesn't find out he's doing that. Wolfgang's lab partner might end up being the new drum tech.
I haven't talked to him yet, but, obviously, Ed knows. I think my friend and Alex are pretty tight. My friend is also an artist. He's painted drums and guitars for all kinds of famous musicians. He did all the artwork for Alex' drums on this tour and he's an excellent tech, so I'm sure that was the key factor. He's in town October 20 with Sammy. I'm going to try and catch up with him to get more details.
I should point out that I'm personally very disappointed in how VH treated Anthony. I was a HUGE VH fan when I was a kid. While I've never been a big fan of Anthony as a bass player, his playing and his singing were a big part of that band. The friend who was at the rehearsals said, however, that Wolfgang was able to nail all the high vocals. They didn't use recordings or samples for anything and they had a keyboard player set up behind the curtain stage left covering all the keyboard parts.
