Probably about 15 years too late but the word is Van Halen and David Lee Roth are back together again. Check out the story:

You may not care. I can't say I really do. But, when I was growing up, Van Halen had it going on prior to 1984. They sold out three shows in no time at all in Houston where they played the Summit for the 1984 tour. I camped out for tickets, partied to hard, and fell asleep in a van only to wake up and see this huge line. We would have been first in line at Almeda Mall but we ended up getting 2nd show upper prom seats. Ah...those were the days.

Who knows if they can make some viable music still?

Dave may not have been as cool as Eddie though he himself was, but Dave was every bit as much of their music as was Eddie's licks.

I'd see them again---if they can hold themselves together long enough. They haven't exactly matured like the Eagles, so I'm not so sure it's possible.

From what I've see David Lee Roth went a little crazy a few years back. I'm talking seriously mental unstable.

It's unfortunate, the Roth version of Van Halen was my favorite version....

Dave must be desperate. VH screwed him not once, but twice.

Eddie is a dick, if you ask me. An incredible guitarist, but a dick nonetheles.

A few years back, Eddie wanted to do a greatest hits album. Sammy was against it because he felt it was too soon to do that. So what did Eddie do? He brought in Dave, recorded 2 songs, teased the fans by bringing Dave onstage at the MTV awards, released the album, dumped Dave (again) and went on his merry way to the bank.

So basically Eddie screwed both his singers at the very same time. Sammy left and Dave was dumped again.

Now he's coming back?! Poor Dave.

I think any true Van Halen fan knows that Eddie is a dick. But, David Lee Roth is no model citizen either and acts like a baby more often than not. Personally, I don't see how a DLR/Van Halen reunion can be true. These guys will be at each others throats in no time at all. Either Eddie will do something stupid or Dave will say something stupid and we have another split. I do think what's left of Van Halen is desperate to get their act together. What they did to Sammy was very uncool which was basically tossing him from the band. I think they would still be thriving with Hagar.

In the end, I think it all boils down to a control factor by Eddie. He is, after all, the engine that makes the band move.

Maybe they should just retire if they can't hold on to a singer. Eddie can always play guitar in his basement for his wife and son, Wolfenstein....err...I mean...Wolfgang... [IMG].

I don't want to see VH go through another singer that isn't DLR...personally. And, if they do take back DLR, then it better stick this time or VH is dead. I think the fans have put up with enough crap from VH.

    Great scoop Surfguy!

About a week ago I did some research into Van Halen and what is going on with the band.... I was mainly looking into an update on Eddie and/or news on the band.
Thanks for the post,I would live to see a reunion.

Am I the only one who prefers Van Halen with Sammy Hagar?

Actually, I would prefer it if they just would retire. There is NO WAY they can recapture the magic of the first two records or even of 1984 for that matter. I'd prefer to remember them as they were rather than see some re-tread wannabe rock stars up there doing their best Van Halen impersonation.

I liked any VH except for that crap they did with Gary Cherone. The DLR-VH absolutely ruled our world back in the day..the first 4 albums are on my Top records of all time list...

I actually preferred Sammy on his own...but they music he did with Eddie was ok..and yes, all true VH fans know Eddie is an exceptionally gifted guitarist and musician and he is a huge dick when it comes to the direction VH is going...but doesn't he have the right?? would VH have even been formed without him??
