I love Jeff and I think he is a great coach, but the fact that he remained so true to his short bench tonite was unbelievable.

    Zero bench points.

    Zilch.

    Nada.

Only 4 players scored at all.

Rafer might have had the worst game in Rocket playoff point guard history and Jeff never even tried anybody else.

I absolutely hate his substitution patterns...

    what was the alternative?
Bring in the human turnover spanoullis? or perhaps have novak throw on his gear and make some buckets......No wait, snyder with that o so beautiful touch from the outside could have brought the rockets back....
the fact is that Luther and Juwon showed a serious lack of sac by not showing up in this game....

Can we make a combined thread of all the bandwagon, fickle ppl. So they can all collectively Blame JVG, Blame TMac, Tell us to trade Tmac, Tell us that TMac is 100% to blame, Tell Us how our Bench Sucks, Maybe say some bad about Yao.

Come on guys stop making these r****ded posts.

the bench players were picked by Gundy. We are going to win this series, but frankly i hope JVG is not back next year. How the hell does a team with TMac and Yao score 10 points in a quarter...

This is ridiculous! Did JVG tell them that only four of them can score?

    It's very simple...

What can you do? You can pull them out and put in somebody else. That's the whole point.

Do you honestly believe that Lucas would have played worse than Rafer Alston tonite?

Would it not be worth even trying something different?

It's not all on Jeff. The players have to make the shots. I agree with that. But when it is pretty obvious that they aren't going to make the shots, doesn't it just make sense to let someone has have a chance?

That's a coaching decision. Plain and simple.

They have SO much more talent than we do. All we have is T-Mac and Yao, but all of their players in their rotation maybe with the exception of 1 (that Collins guy) are quality players who are much more talented then our bench / role players.

It's kind of hard for 2 superstars to win games when no one else on the team shows up...literally! Only 2 other guys scored? Their entire defense was aimed at shutting down T-Mac and Yao but the role players couldn't capitalize...

Also, did you expect Van Gundy to outcoach Sloan? Sloan is highly considered a great coach even though he doesn't have a ring.

A better coach with more talent...I don't think anyone was expecting Van Gundy to out coach Sloan, especially when his team is making his gameplan look like sh*t.

Check every playoff teams' roster and tell me how many of them play more than 9 players...

Juwan and Luther made shots in the regular season and you are telling JVG not to use them in the playoffs?

Who is he going to use? VSpan's shooting percentage is even lower than Rafer! Steve Novak is so weak he won't even get one defensive rebound against Jazz. Lucas is way too small to play against Jazz.

Rafer didn't play bad what the hell are you talking about? The guy had to play 45 minutes every game and he only shot the ball 5 times this game made 2 of them. If you check the box score you can clearly see he played an average game but not a bad game...

JVG wasn't the one missing all of those shots. They were the shots we have shot all yr that led us to a 52-30 record and a 2-0 playoff lead. They are missing shots and turning it over, simple as that.

YES he would!!!!! rafer played pretty decent today, and that only b/c all those TO! If you exlude the TO, he played a great game.

No, this game proved that JVG ball works.

It worked for the Jazz

They shot badly too but they hustled, got offensive rebounds, played transition D and controlled the shot clock.

    I TIVO'd the game.

I turned on the TV to watch 10 minutes ago. I had no idea what the score was. The tube or the the ON/Off promptly switch blew

I guess I was spared the loss.

Could we have used Bonzi tonight?
