Earlier, 610 reported Van Gundy will meet with the media at 1 pm. Now they are saying early afternoon. No idea what he will say or announce but he most likely will just say what he thought about his visit and tour of the city. I apologize if this has already been posted.
Hopefully this is a precursor to a "press conference" tomorrow to announce him as coach. This negotiation time is killing me!
Okay I want to correct myself. Its still scheduled for 1 pm. This is perhaps just speculation on the part of 610 but they claim Van Gundy could announce if he's accepting the offer or not. At the least I think we can get a pretty good idea of what Gundy will do.
Man, the suspense is killing me. Too much drama with all of these Rocket moves, and I heard that 610 report also that Van Gundy will announce his intentions and it may be 50/50 at this point.
I bet they threw this in just to get people to tune into the press conference. It's just a way to make a press conference seem more important than it really is... If Jeff decided to accept the job, you can damn well be sure that it will be a major press conference held by the Rockets...
he saw the city, the arena, the schools, and the homes that houston has to offer this morning. then he could've talked at least about a price range for a contract around noon time. he may be ready to accept come 1 P.M.
I believe JVG will announce he accepted the offer. That's the purpose he came to Houston. He didn't just come here and waste time just to announce he turn down the offer. Before he came, at least 95% of the deal was done.
Look, CD wouldn't have called Dunleavy's agent (as announced in the Chronicle) to announce the Rockets wanted Van Gundy w/o knowing JVG was in the bag. All this, "We'll get JVG to town and see if he likes it," is just yap yap yap. What's JVG gonna say? "I'm sweating my ass off. They took my kid to the hospital to give her IVs to help her restore fluids. The mosquitoes carried off my wife. I negotiated for her release but before I could get her, two flying roaches grabbed her and took off. They went north but have you seen I-45 North this time of day? Hell with this Houston thing! I'm calling the Clippers!"

there's gotta be more to say, than "I like Houston, blah blah" why hold a press conference just to thank us for letting him visit... there has to be something more significant to be said?? and if JVG calls us "How-ston" (like the street in NY) I'm gonna freakin' SCREAM!!!
Do you expect the city to pour a fresh coat of cement every year? The only really bad thing about living in NYC is the smell every summer. I forget about it in the winter...but it comes back...so gross. I work by Chinatown. FISH smell@!!!!@#@#!@# Back to BBall... Maybe JVG is gonna try to get some leverage now that the Rockets have said they want him. The 50/50 could be to get more money.
