    Just announced by ESPN.

ESPN radio in NY states that Cavs are set to name JVG as their new head coach.

Neither Cleveland, nor Van Gundy are commenting.

Great news. They also said a formal announcement would be put off until next week.

This should put to rest all of those ugly rumors about Van Gumby coaching the Rockets.

I've been looking ALL OVER the Cavs Site, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Cleveland TV web sites...

There is NOTHING new about JVG going there... I don't think it's a done deal and if Brown is not going to be the man, then I bet Les is trying to steal JVG from the Cavs...

It's good news if we get someone like Larry Brown.

It's bad news if we get someone like John Lucas.

    Everything's relative.

Larry Brown is my choice, but I just don't think we will get him. JVG would be nice too, but if he goes to the Cavs and we don't get Brown, who else is there?

Paul Silas is the man! Larry brown whines every off-season about quiting, we don't need that. John Lucas I'm not so sure about him, we need someone that's going to be about winning first, no worries about there off the court relationships with the players.

We need someone who can instill a system that works and maximize the players' talents.

Larry Brown is an intense individual and relentless worker. It does burn him out and he does go from job to job.

However, right now, he is the coach we need.

In a couple of years as Francis and Yao learn to play with each other and everyone knows their roles, it won't matter if Brown stays or goes. He will have done his job and the team will have established its identity. That is what we're missing - an identity.

It's time to think big....i mean real BIG (Be apart of something big)
On 610 radio today, all they talked about was how Les would want to sign a high profile coach, nothing less.

    Phil Jackson.

Ok, ok, all kidding aside, is that guy even a possibility????
I have heard some rumblings about him leaving but obviously nothing has been said about him and the rockets.
But is it at all possible??? And if so, would it be a good fit???

    I'd love him.

He has experience with guards like Steve and Allen. And big men.....and he's smart.......but old......but I don't think he's gonna leave Philly and join us. :(

    We are screwed. :(

The Lakers job will be his last I think he even said that I could be wrong though... Phil would be a perfect coach for any team but its not happening.. It would help his legacy though people say he always had jordan, now he has kobe and shaq..It would be great to hear people gripe that he has Yao and Steve...But I dont think its happening

You guys can't be serious in thinking that Van Gundy to Cleveland is a good thing. That scratches one of the names off our list and arguably one of the best if not best on that list. How many great coaches does that leave us with now? 4? 3? 2? 1?

If we don't land Silas or Brown who's out there? Brown might not even leave Philly. So our list of available coaches is down to Silas. I'm sure there are other teams with him on their wish list too.

We could luck out and find a young less heard of coach like the Pistions with Carlisle and the Warriors with Musselman. But with Rudy T gone you figure they're going for a big name guy, but seriously who's available?

I'm completely serious because I did not want Van Gumby.
