Billy and JL better step up their game soon, or else I'm smelling a trade for a veteran backup PG before preseason ends.

One of these guys could become trade bait, or at the very least have a golden opporutnity for minutes slip away from them. The whole "TMac playing the point" thing seems to indicate JVG had doubts about the readiness of the young PGs even before last night. So they better prove useful before the season stars.

If the Rockets do go after a veteran PG, I am kinda hoping for Chris Duhon (if Thabo Sefolosha renders him expendable). The guy is perfect for the Rockets.

I highly doubt we will get Chris Duhon, he has good value.

I've always wished we could draft or trade for Duhon. I agree, he would fit the team very well.

Why not Head for Duhon? Head has value, and is a hometown hero in CHI.

V-Span does seem to get out of control alot, but hopefully most of that was simply first game jitters and what not. He actually has better handles then I thought he did, if Van Gundy can get him to stay under control I think he'll be alright. I guess I'm a bit more concerned about Hayes playing big minutes at the 5 then the PG sistuation.

JL3 and VSpan are freaking rookies (well at least VSpan). they're not close to ready or even able to run the Rockets offense despite JVG's doubletalk. but i don't expect the Rockets to trade either one. they're unproven, don't make much and can't garner back much in return. if neither of these two impress JVG by the end of camp, they're not going to see much playing time (crack the main rotation) which will lead to slow development unless one gets sent to the NBDL.

which leads me to believe that the backup "point" guard besides T-Mac would be Head at least as long as T-Mac is also on the floor since Luther can at least shoot and rebound the ball. VSpan and JL3 are just insurance.

I don't have any problem with what he said. JL3 and V-Span need to battle it out until one of them takes a clear lead over the other. We've got about 3 weeks left.

What about Beno Udrih? He is third string for S.A. behind Parker and Vaugh could he be expendable for anything we have to offer?

Give up Banzai and Battery for Nash..?

I'm jk, that doesn't even make sense. Honestly though, I think we'd be find with our PG position. V-Span and JL3 can handle it, and can't Head take some PG duties too if it needs be?

I wouldn't mind trying to get one of Orlando's backup point men-- Arroyo or Dooling. Not the greatest long range bombers, but both are experienced and each brings something to the table.

I heard Orlando might start Dooling at SG, but they just drafted Redick and signed Bogans and probably want to give both some minutes... maybe Dooling or Arroyo can be had..

This is the short sighted thinking that keeps teams from improving although I'm hoping this is just the JVG way of making them play harder.

Come on JVG. Give them a try. You don't develop point guards by having them play as a 3rd string PG and only practicing against the team.

There aren't any point guards out there worth getting as FAs. And trading young players who have low value right now gets us little in return.

It's one game. I know he has the benefit of practice, but you have to be patient with young guys. Sometimes the only way someone improves is by acutally giving them a real chance. A little more than 2 weeks might be good. And playing them with a real NBA second unit instead of Haryasz, Novak, Hayes, Azubuike and Jacobson helps too. Come on Haryasz shouldn't even make the team and neither should Azubuike. Even the best of PGs won't look good with this not a team out there.
