Did anybody catch the end of the TNT broadcast that had Ming sitting on the rockets bench and they had Van Gundy's head superimposed on a players body next to him with a box stating "You know I coached Patrick Ewing". :D

Van Gundy and Fratello we're getting pretty emotional. They both will be coaching somewhere next year, they knew this was they're last game together with Marv.

Maybe there is some meaning to this. Could this be TNT foreshadowing something?

The longer there is inactivity in terms of hiring a coach, the probability of the rumors of Brown going to LA might be increasing.

I don't know about that. Brown was quoted as saying his wife would go whereever he felt the best about coaching. That opens things up a bit for the Rockets. He's intrigued by the talent. It may be his last chance at a ring before he retires.

Larry Brown with the Rockets does not guarantee the ring becase the Lakers, Spurs, Mavs, Kings will still be elite teams for the next 3 years at least.

Lakers will not win as is.
Spurs---we match up well against the spurs
Mavs--add a good coach and a veteran PF and we could take them
Kings---I believe we won 3 games against them this past yr...we match up well with them.

We'll give most teams a run for their money next yr.

    No we won't

We only match up well with the Mavs of those 4. We actually play alright against the Lakers, but they will improve their roster next year. There are talks of Gary Payton, etc. We do not match up well with the Spurs at all, and the Kings pretty much are on a whole different level from us.

It's all a matter of opinion. the team that beat us badly was the Mavericks this past yr....we don't match up right now.

Well, I'm not sure how much more incorrect you can be. Nor does you analysis make much sense really.

Of course the Lakers won't win as is. What?? Do you think they are just going to stand pat, and have the Rockets pass them by? It's called reloading. The Lakers next year will be better than the Rockets.

Match up well against the Spurs?? The Rockets have beaten the Spurs just twice since 97-98. And were 1-3 this year with Yao Ming. In the last two meetings the Spurs ripped the Rockets.

As for the Mavs----your analysis can apply for every opponent who gave the Rockets fits. It's way too broad.

Kings--The Rockets beat them twice at home last year, once without Chris Webber. This does not mean we match up well with them, just because the Rockets beat them at home twice. The Rockets haven't won in Arco since 1999.

We match up well with all other teams if we can get a P. J. Brown.
With the right mix of coaching and offensive schemes, our backcourt with SF and Cat is one of the best, Posey is an excellent defensive SF, with a P.J.Brown, we are very solid from 1 to 5.

Defensively and offensively, Rox is a team very easy to fix.

why would anyone in their right mind talk about the Rockets going from losers who can't back up their smack talk to being title contenders in just one year?

Sheesh...i'd be happy to just make the playoffs next year.

    but wait?!

I thought firing Rudy was supposed to force the NBA to mail us our championship rings and banners and cause the Marines to find and kill Osama and bring peace between Israel and Palestine and reduce global warming and convince Columbia to put out Moonlighting on DVD and speed up the construction work on 59 and and and and. . .

you mean there is a possibility that the Rockets will still suck now that public enemy #1 Rudy T has been exiled from Verona?

    Rockets against Spurs.
Steve Francis against Tony Parker. Well Steve has been owned by this quick little Frenchman numerous times....pretty sad...Steve can't guard him. But hopefully Larry Brown can change this...Steve is supposed to be better than Tony...maybe Tony is smarter.
Cuttino Mobley vs. Stephen Jackson and Manu Ginobili. Cat and Stephen Jackson like cancel each other out. But I guess Ginobili isn't respected by the Rockets cuz he like had a career high in scoring against us...and our best defender.
James Posey vs. Bruce Bowen. Bowen's a little better at what he does...if we resign Posey.....maybe he can do even better and be more accustomed with his role......
Eddie Griffin vs. Tim Duncan. UHHHHHHHH.....well we gotta wait 4 more years for Eddie to wake up and start playing for real.....Tim Duncan. 2 consecutive MVP's. One of the best players ever. The Big Fundamental.
Yao Ming vs. David Robinson. Well Yao did good against the Twin Towers the first games...but then he was screwed.....next year.....no more DRob. Hopefully they don't get Jermaine O'Neal or Karl Malone. Maybe just Michael Olowokandi or Rasho Nesterovic. I hope.
Their bench is way better than ours.....

    Mavs.
Steve Nash and Nick Van Exel is better than Steve Francis and Moochie Norris.
Michael Finley is better than Cuttino Mobley.
Eduardo Najera, Raja Bell, Walt Williams, and Antoine Rigadeau is better than James Posey, Glen Rice, Bostjan Nachbar, and Terence Morris.
Dirk Nowitzki and Evan Eschemeyer is better than Eddie Griffin and Maurice Taylor.
Shawn Bradley and Raef Lafrentz is better than Yao Ming and Kelvin Cato.

    Kings..
    Francis EATS OWNS ABUSES Bibby.
    Mobley is better than Christie.
    Stojakovic is better than Posey.
Webber owns Griffin...although Taylor has done well against Chris.
    Yao owns VLADDE SDDIVACS.

    Step by step.....first......we need a coach.....then.........change....

What are you talking about? Of all the mentioned teams, the Mavs are the ones we fared worst against. We lost 4 times to the Mavs this season, with only 1 of the games really being close. For whatever reason, we truly do have Sacramento's number. I think you'll see a Lakers team on the decline, particularly because I think Shaq's health is on a downslide. Look for Shaq to miss even more games next year, and the year after that ...

San Antonio is interesting. I think we CAN match up well with them, but we haven't played well against them. We did actually beat 'em in the regular season, but I also went to a game where they made us look like a lotto team. Inconsistency vs. the Spurs.

I agree. Shawn Bradley and Lafrentz better than Yao and Cato. Gimme a break.

Also, maybe on paper we match up well againt the Mavs, but I remember them annihilating us in just about every game we played against us last year. They swept us.

The biggest problem the Rockets(and many teams in the league) had against the Mavs last year was that they'd try to match their run-and-gun style instead of playing within their own offense. Although to be frank, I don't think we ever really knew what type of offense the Rockets were trying to run. The key to beating the Mavs is by not playing into their hands. Make them beat you in a half court set and they're vulnerable.
