So I was at the Heat game yesterday and I'm seeing this team playing great basketball. Then I think "how is that possible?" They have an inside-outside presence and have a coach named Van Gundy.

So I'm sure it's been discussed, but how are the coaching styles different between the Van Gundy brothers and/or why is it actually effective in Miami? If they're similar, why then does it not fail?

The Heat have little more than Wade and Shaq, similar to Houston's situation, so are the supporting players just better than what the Rockets have?

Obviously some things like the fact that Shaq ain't soft and is the clear-cut #1 option can't be overlooked. Not to mention that the supporting players aren't the oldest in the league either.

Other than that, the atmosphere at the AAA was incredible! It was a packed house which is amazing when talking about Miami fans, although it's almost exclusively because of Shaq. It was the first time I've been to a sporting event where I've never been bored at any point in time. I'm not saying boredom is bad because take baseball for instance; it's a boring game, but it's something to relax with for a few hours.

The Heat game was filled with stuff, during play and not. There's even an in-house DJ.

Not to mention the celebrities like Carl Lewis, Dan Marino, and Dyan Cannon to name a few. I might post a few pics later if I get around to it.

check this out even though it may be unrelated to this topic:

    Steve Francis:
On the difference in the second half: "We played a lot better defense. I can’t say too much about the guys who came in and stepped up. Stacey Augmon won the game for us. He did a marvelous job subbing in for Grant Hill."

"That’s the best scoring. But for me it’s not always about scoring. Drawing double teams, getting other guys involved is what really helps me. I think the guys appreciate that and we all know how tough it is out there. Points-wise it was a good game."

They have a better PF in Haslem for one thing. A guy that can both score and get on the boards and rebound.

I think the attitude and demeanor of the coach makes a lot of difference.

The guy is only 6'8, so it is kinda amazing he does what he does. But I'd imagine he'll be taken advantage of against some big 4s.
