I'm watching NBA TV and they're announcing the finalists for the HOF. Van Chancellor is one. Other notables: Phil Jackson (as coach) Chris Mullin Dick Vitale 1966 Texas Western Team Roy Williams Adrian Dantley
it's too bad but he made his own bed by never winning. I think it's crap but it is what it is. To have the team he had in 83 and not win was pretty bad, his fault or not it was on his watch.
Excuse me? PLENTY of other coaches in the HOF have never won championships. Nor have they accomplished half of what Guy V has.
Hey, I'm a UH fan and Guy V's fraturnity brother (well I am much much younger but same fraturnity at UH) so I want him to get in and think he should but he has to take some of the blame for that 83 loss.
Certainly he should, but it's a big fat steaming crock of crap that folks wouldn't vote him in the hall of fame for that. Far worse than the baseball HOF's arbitrary exclusion of Pete Rose is basketball's mind-boggling exclusion of Guy V. It's utter bullcrap. He should be in there, end of discussion.
I agree and I wont argue that he should but I am just saying there would be no question if he gets UH a national title in any of those final fours (five of them) Hell he was the winning coach in the "game of the centery"
The Hall of Fame is not a part of or governed by MLB. They decided to adopt MLB's rules for eligibility to play or manage as the guidelines for eligibility to get into the Hall--ex post facto. There are other gamblers in the Hall of Fame, and with arguably *more* evidence. That's arbitrary. On the other hand, "sanctimonious" seems to be a good word for it as well. Ridiculous. There's at least a case for Rose not getting in (for the more sanctimonious among us), but there is no excuse for the annual snub of Guy V. Lewis.
