Even if he blows it, he has a great excuse.

it hit off his glove and grazed his face. probably a little more drama than necessary.

This aint Y2K. This is a real ball flying a hundred mph at someones head. That is life and death, or at least it was for hundreds of years when the sling was king.

Valverde has just made me a huge fan. Never seen anything quite like that. Few human beings have that kind of mental toughness.

    Just WOW!

I dunno. He needs to stop showing passion. It's not fun for other fans.

    Sorry, couldn't help it.

after over a decade of emotionless baseball with Bags and Big, this team's outward pouring of excitement is a welcomed change.

yeah that ball barely grazed his glove and didn't slow it down much at all. That was sheer guts right there and I love it. Im sure he just toughened up this whole team.

Um, that ball still had serious speed even after it hit his glove. It still had enough force to cause the reaction it did.

I watched the play on the recap and I can't imagine anyone thinking he was just playing up the drama at that time.

It grazed his glove then hit his head...bounced off his head and ended up in shallow left field. Yeah, he was just being a drama queen.

either way is, the bottom line is, whether he was hit square on in the face, or if it barely grazed him, he wasn't hurt that badly. he stayed in the game and there wasn't even any swelling. those are kind of indicators that he was fine. i don't mean completely discredit the guy, but you guys are acting like his skull was shattered and blood was pouring out of his eyes. you want it to be more of a hollywood story than it actually was. it was impressive that he was able to psychologically compose himself so well after the shock of a ball hitting his face, but he was physically fine.

maybe change the thread title to "valverde's cheekbone might have titanium plating".
