Just .02 from a single guy. However, I really am glad I didn't have to go through the BS of getting a gift. But damn, that reward later tonight sure is worth it. You couples enjoy your day.
Even those of us in couples don't necessarily like Valentine's Day. If you're female, either: 1) your guy showers you with attention and "romance", all so he can get some action later and/or not make you upset. In other words, not the best of reasons. Or: 2) your guy doesn't do much for you or is cheap with you. Kind of hard on the self-esteem to know you're not worth that much trouble to him, and to have to choose whether or not to stay with a guy who's OK otherwise but does as little as he can get away with in the romance department. All those cute happy couples will make you just as bitter as you were back when you were single. So, if you're male and in a (straight) couple: you have to jump through a bunch of extra hoops to get laid today. Have fun guys. And the alternative is being single and settling in for an evening with your favorite videos. See, Valentine's Day is a Catch-22 all around.
Isabel, are you married? Sometimes it sounds like you're a little unhappy about it. I agree that Valentines Day can be an irritating holiday but it can also be fun if you just relax and do something that you both enjoy.
Doesn't suck for me. RM95's Girl couldn't care less about today and I'd be getting laid anyway...it's not that rare an occurance.
I just hope the Rockets game, a Steve Francis celebriduck, dinner at the Compaq Center is going to please my significant other. At least I know we won't have to wait two hours for a seat to eat somewhere. B
I have to say, my date rocks! I asked her what she wanted to do and she said whatever I wanted and specified that Watching Daredevil or going to the Rockets game would be great!! Me, My Date and the Rockets kicking Riley's ass again .......Love!
Doesn't suck for me, and I am single. I love being single. No worries, pressure, or obligations today. I can just sit back and watch the Lakers vs. Spurs game tonight without any nagging or interruptions. And if I want some late night action, well I live within walking distance of Cool River Cafe (nice bar)! Ahhh, the joys of being single! I don't know why single people get so depressed!!!! (Maybe I've just been warped by past relationships to the extent that I never want another one again!)
I am shocked this year. I got my wife a card but she. . . . get this FORGOT I think the apocalyps is coming. This is the woman that does not forget my cousins birth days. And I am the guy that didnt get her anythnig on her first birthday. Redemtion is so very very sweet
I am thoroughly going to enjoy Valentine's Day this year. I just broke off a relationship last week with a fine young lady I've been dating for a while. Things were going fine, but not spectacular, so I didn't see any point in continuing the relationship unless I could get excited about it (no, not in that way - that's never a problem, thanks). What could be worse than a Valentine's Day with somebody you don't see any future with? I can find much better ways to spend money than flowers, dinner, jewelry and the like for someone I'm not thrilled about. In fact, this evening will truly be a celebration of manhood. I will start the evening by watching the Rice baseball game at Minute Maid Park (vs. A&M), and then quite possibly follow up the night with some lap dances at Treasures. Ahhhhh, have fun gentlemen!!
Which one of you poor sap's is going to be dragged to How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days. Come on, fess up?
Yeah, let's see, paying $20 or so for a lap dance from some coked up w****, or getting one for free. Tough choice.
Is your gal's name "Rosie Palmer"? We went out to eat last night. Valentines is very overrated, just a way for Hallmark and Russell Stover's to make money. I already got my Valentines present today....
Being single rocks! It's being in a relationship that I feel extra pressure, since someone else is counting on me. I am happy with whom I'm dating, it's just that I miss the late nights of video games, and watching basketball. At least my current significant other really likes the Rockets and more than tolerates my obsession with them. I think the only time I was depressed while I was single was the second or third month of unemployment around September-October 2001. Then again I think most people were depressed to some degree. All you single people out there have a GREAT time tonight! Watch the Rockets beat the crap out of the Heat! Then go home and watch the replay at midnight. That's one thing I miss doing, going to the game, then watching the replay when I get home. At least there are plenty of other benefits to counteract the little things I miss. B
