My girlfriend is taking me on vacation for my birthday...I just have to choose the location. I restricted to the lower 48 states. Where would you go....Feb. 10-14? no Vegas. no LA. Any help...I can't decide.
Lake Tahoe was kinda nice. San Fransico should be interesting also. Florida isn't bad I heard S. Carolina has some nice scenery too.
No Vegas...No LA...that's rough! My top three choices would then be (in no particular order): NYC; Park City, Utah (I know, it's Utah, but that city is wonderful) or Disney World. Believe it or not, Disney World can be an incredibly romantic place....
NYC would be my first choice. That's a crazy place, but I've had fun every time I went. I have friends in LA and it's pretty fun, but I'm not a Vegas kind of person. I wouldn't mind an off-center kind of place like Seattle, Portland, San Francisco. I also would LOVE to spend like 3 days in the Smithsonian. Not that romantic, but I've always wanted to see it.
depends on what you're looking for, outdoors? shopping? golf? i personally really like Phoenix. GREAT golf courses (not that I golf), mountains to hike (loved this, esp b/c i live in Houston), the weather is FABULOUS, air is clean, SWA tix are only $188 non-stop from houston, good authentic Mexican food, bars/clubs in Scottsdale (close at 1 though), great spas in the resorts for her (i recommened priceline), ASU is in Tempe, etc. very nice. have fun!
Fly to Seattle and drive up to Vancouver and Victoria (Vancouver Island). Victoria is unbelievably nice. Taking the ferry from Tsawwassen over to Swartz Bay is a beautiful boat ride.
Take it from me...don't go to NYC that time of year...its BRUTALLY cold and very unenjoyable to walk around manhattan.
Yea - I'd stay away from Northern territory that time of year (no NYC) If you like skiing, you have: 1) Tahoe. Heavenly Valley - Some of the most gorgeous runs but ski skill level is low. ie. Nice views and easy slopes. Squaw Valley has good views and is a little more challenging. Kirkland is good for a change of pace. 2) Utah - Park City, Alta it's all good. 3) Colorado/New Mexico - Not bad but not as good as Utah IMO. Otherwise, I'd head south to Florida. If you want to beach it, Miami has the beach and the nightlife. Naples, Captiva Island, Sanabell Island (sp) have better beaches but no nightlife. The Keys don't have beaches - but great fishing if she's into that. The other FL beaches will probably be too cold that time of year.
In what respect? 1) Skiiable terrain? 2) Snow quality? 3) Apres Ski? Utah may be better w/ #2, but not 1 or 3.
Yes #2 which I've skiied on some bad #2 to make a bad #1. Colorado is still good , but if I had a choice, I'd take Park City or Alta over any park in CO. Just my opinion.
