    This is so sweet:

    <B><font size=5>They're back: 'V' to invade NBC again</font></B>

<I>LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Twenty years after NBC's hit sci-fi miniseries "V" invaded the small screen, the network is bringing the aliens back with "V: The Second Generation," a three-hour TV movie from the original creator Kenneth Johnson.

Johnson, who wrote, directed and produced the original miniseries, is set to write, direct and executive produce the sequel, which has been given a script commitment.

The 1983 "V" (short for Visitors), which spawned a short-lived weekly series on NBC, was a sci-fi allegory of the Nazi takeover of Germany in the 1930s.

It centered on the Visitors, aliens from a distant planet who came to Earth with the promise to solve the world's problems through their high technology, but after gaining control of the planet through subterfuge and media manipulation, began to methodically kill their hosts.

A small group of humans, who discovered the Visitors' true plan -- to conquer the Earth and eat its population -- form a resistance and lead the fight against the invaders.

The new movie, produced by Warner Bros. TV and Kenneth Johnson Prods., will take place 20 years into the future. As the alien forces are turning more and more Earth citizens into followers, the resistance suddenly gains a powerful and mysterious new ally.

Several cast members of the miniseries and the weekly series, including Marc Singer, Faye Grant, Jane Badler and Robert Englund, could reprise their roles in the telefilm if it goes into production.

"For years I've had a passion to dig even deeper into the characters and circumstances," Johnson said. "Gregg Maday at Warner Bros., my fellow executive producer Rob Lee, NBC and I plan to make this new 'V' into the same kind of major international TV event that my original miniseries was."

The conclusion of the original mini in May 1983 was the top program for the week, averaging a 27 household rating/40 share. Additionally, "V" enjoyed solid success overseas. Twenty years later, the miniseries continues to be a strong draw as its recent DVD release has quickly become a hot seller, with more than 250,000 units shipped.

"The appeal of 'V' continues, and we look forward to getting a new script that could introduce it to a new generation of viewers," said Jeff Gaspin, NBC Entertainment executive VP alternative series, longform and Bravo. "Likewise, we would like to move the story forward with a fresh take on this timeless story of human resilience and resistance."

I remember V very well. One of my favs of all time. Very creepy. The best episode was when the human lady gave birth to Robert Englund's baby. lol

So, I guess the aliens weren't defeated after all. Hmmm. All these years I thought they were pretty much history. Turns out they have all been living in vans down by some rivers smoking doobies and breeding it up.

    But not Dominique Dunne.

I really liked the original miniseries, but the follow-up miniseries, The Final Battle, and the weekly series were somewhat weak.

    This has potential, though.

    LOL!

"V" was pretty cool when it came out. I would watch an up-dated version, hopefully with CGI and more budget it will look better.

Hey! Wait a minute! Wasn't this "update" already done via the incredibly weak and shoddy series, "Earth: Final Conflict"? The premise of the 2 shows were sort of similar.

First, Battle Star Galactica is revived. Now, this? What's next? Buck Rogers? Alien Nation? The Last Starfighter? Ice Pirates? Homeboys in Outer Space? The Star Wars Christmas Special?

Man did I ever have a thing for that princess character in that flick.
She was too hot for her own good. I heard she died of hotness.

    Growlllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard their trying to bring back BattleStar Galactica. I hope it's better than the 1980 version. And, bring back Apollo! My God man...it's the only life he had as an actor! Somehow, I doubt him or old Starbuck(good ole' Dirk) will be back.

One time...I was not of sound mind and I was trying to park at a weird angle at the Galleria. I asked my friend in the passenger side to tell me if I was going to hit the other car when I was pulling in. He said NOTHING and I hit the car's bumper as it scraped up the side of my car. I was pissed at him as he said nothing. Anyway, their car had some paint on their bumper from my car(nothing serious I might add) and my car had the big scratch running down the side. The Galleria police saw me do it and they asked for my name, DL # , etc. so they could pass it along to the occupants of the other car whenever they came back. So, I started filling this thing out with my real info. Then, one of my friends came up to me and said, "Write down BS info...these guys don't care!" . They weren't real cops. So, stupid me...I wrote down the lamest name I could think of "Jason Starbuck". That's right...none other than Starbuck from BattleStar Galactica. Not to mention I forgot to rip out the page with my real name on it out of the officer's booklet(I only turned the page. DOH!!!). So, the cop looked at the name and read it...he basically started laughing and that was that. It was New Year's Eve and I wasn't exactly of sound mind(if you know what I mean).

I never did get a call but that was my funny Battlestar Galactica story.

    Knight Rider 2000, anyone?

Seriously, as much as I loved these old shows, the remakes are always horrid!

Would still be up for a "Cheer's" remake, however. Wouldn't mind a new cast as long as they bring Norm and Cliff back.

Cool, I loved that series back in the day! It will be interesting to see them use today's film technology.

I just hope no one brings back Max Headroom(even though I watched that as well).

    On Battlestar Galatica,

Starbuck is being rewritten as a female character. Completely new cast.

The problem is, with today's ADD culture, a Cheers remake would probably:

    1) Take place at a Hooters-style establishment (T&A)
    2) Feature a bar owner played by a no-talent piece of eye candy (think Pam Anderson's character from "Barb Wire")
    3) Change the "Sam Malone" character into a fat, stupid, blue-collar chauvinisitic pig from Queens (with an inexplicable hot wife)
    4) Star a completely CGI Norm and Cliff
    5) Replace "Frasier" with "DJ Skillz," a hip, wise-cracking, street-wise deejay from the ghetto
    6) Make every character on the show fall in love with each other at some point in time, then do it again merely for ratings
    7) Be raunchy as hell with sex-talk and innuendos ("Smart dialogue?!?! Who needs that?!?!")
    8) Feature "WB-like" music in the background
    9) Guest star a reality show "celebrity" of the week
    10) Make passing references to every pop culture phenomenon and catch-phrase possible in a 30 minute period ("Hey Cliff! I just scoured Ebay for Saddam trading cards, but I decided to buy Ashton Kutcher's used Ipod from the set of 'Punk'd' instead! Bling-bling! Michelle Branch rocks!")

Awwww, who am I kidding? A Cheers remake would probably be yanked after 2 episodes, anyway. Networks don't give any shows a chance nowadays (yes, I'm still bitter over Firefly).

Don't forget that it would have to be filmed in soft, diffused light ala "Gillmore Girls"hehehehe...
