What's been well known since Columbine? That the shooter didn't have a bomb, was holding hostages, or that there wasn't more than one shooter or even armed civilians trying to take down the shooter?

Just to point out at Columbine a school resource officer did exchange fire with the shooters and the shooters had also set up crude bombs.

Yes it's very possible the LEO did a terrible job and were cowards. I don't feel that we know enough about the situation to make that determination.

You don’t wait to give the shooter more time, let alone an hr

they’re there for one purpose which is to produce as much collateral as possible

Most important thing is always that the officer makes it home at night. They drill that into them over and over. It's practically the police mantra.

Another successful day at work for the Uvalde Po-Po.

And if the LEO's had rushed the building and more people are killed in the confusion what then?

This is the ultimate Monday Morning Quarterback.

More people how ? This is ultimate conjecture, it’s a pro vs con discussion and you’re telling me a gunman with a semi automatic there to shoot children is going to be able to kill more by charging him comeon

with respect to the victims; nearly every guideline is

    run

    hide

    fight

Even though they aren’t equipped to fight it’s unanimously recommended to charge the shooter and act aggressive.

Same deal as Coward Sheriff Scott Israel from Parkland and the same defense is coming back.

Cops have forearm tats and surplus .mil gear that barely fits over their obese bodies. when push comes to shove they are p*****s and the Dems should have pushed to disarm them instead of defund them. Most of these turds have no intention of saving lives by putting themselves in harms way, they don't need guns to perform mop up duty.

Heard reports the shooter was approached by cops prior to entering the building

The gunman was somehow hiding a rifle?

Sporting events, concerts, and other large gatherings have been checking bags for a while and that's even if bags are allowed

I'm kind of going to defend the individual police a bit as the culture teaches and reinforces the behavior.

I'm sure there are some police who would rush into a burning building if encouraged, but it is pounded into them from day one that the first think they should be co concerned with is their own safety above all else.

There's a story where a police officer in pitsburg from a couple of years ago wher the cop chose to not shoot a "perp" with a gun where the cop could see through the revolver cylinders and knew it wasn't loaded, and the guy was hounded by other cops and eventually fired for endangering the lives of other officers.

The "system" and the other cops will all be telling their colleagues in Uvalde that they did the right thing until the day they die. It's hard to stand up against that kind of pressure and think independently.

The culture and system are ****ed. It's a feedback loop that reinforces the worst behaviors.

Yeah, even worse when you're legally armed and have an entire system that favors your (aggressive) actions off top

Maybe not rushing in immediately could be excused, but not going in for a whole hour? When u could hear shots ringing out in the school? C’mon

people need to stop with the excuses or attempts to try and justify it

    a whole hour

they found time to get their own kids out tho

This is a fair point and just another reason why the good guy with a gun plan is a failure.

So If the good guy with a gun can’t be certain of how to proceed, could make the situation worse or shoot an innocent and the damage is done that quickly then WTF is the point of him or her?

Some of those kids might have lived if they got in there sooner, at least a chance vs this bullshit. I mean if you're hearing gunshots it's not a hostage situation. Unless I'm missing something this timeline of events is pretty damning:

    https://apnews.com/article/uvalde-s...as-shootings-56a4d01fb1cda19947db89fcb6bd85fd

Like 90 minutes total - engaged with the POS within 16 minutes and got pushed back, **** that. Then waited a whole hour for border agents to arrive... Then had to have them do their jobs for them. I also heard some police were rescuing their own kids, if that's true... That's even worse.

I am by no means some hero or saying I could have done anything differently, but I am also not a LEO. These guys are supposed to be there to save people and they ****ed that up too. Every one of them should be fired, you have one gunman with one gun, they should have stayed on him, they even had ARs also from the videos I saw.

Also the playbook for an active shooter is to engage not wait - there's no negotiating

Oh, also the police had to then get someone to unlock the door?? Like Wtf

It's weird how cops always treat mass shooting events like they're facing off against a super villain and have to form an elaborate tactical plan. Any other situation they're running in as fast as they can -- next time they should tell them it's a no knock warrant.
