What, a UTEP mention on this board by someone other than me? Amazing!!! Coach Price has done an amazing job, and the publicity that he has brought to UTEP is simply astounding. The Miners have three games left this season, and all three are game that they should win easily. Hopefully when Bowl time rolls around we'll be 9-2 and ranked somewhere in the high to mid teens... I was also glad to see us sustain our #24 BCS ranking. I was a little worried since our SOS took a hit when we played SJSU, and ASU didn't do us any favors by getting blown out against Cal. By the way, this is the first time the Miners have ever been in the AP poll, and the first time we've been ranked by any of the major polls since 1988.
This is a pretty huge accomplishment for such a small school. Congrats, Miners. BTW, Sam Houston State is now ranked #4 in the I-AA ESPN/USA Today poll after whipping rival SFA over the weekend. We're now 7-1 with our only loss coming in overtime. Dustin Long (former A&M QB) is tearing it up with us. His decision to transfer to SHSU might just get him a very large payday in the NFL next year ala Josh McCown (another SHSU transfer QB). Long's backup and probable starter for next year is former OU QB Noah Allen. Memo to talented backup QB's all over the country. Come play for SHSU!
I knew I was going to see that BLUE and ORANGE sig in less than two hours from the beginning of the thread. You were here late, Jeeber! I have been to UTEP once and I must say I want to one of these days watch a game at their stadium (is it the SUN BOWL?). It was neat but I haven't been back since 2001. Go Miners! Anyway, Congrats!
ima, are you a SHSU student or an alum? There's a poster on the UTEP message board that's a math prof over there...just wondering if you might have had him for any classes...
Graduated in '96. I might have had him for a math class but I don't remember. You see, I pretty much slept through any class that wasn't a music class.

that's weak. i took over UTEP on ncaa 2k4 last year and i led them to a perfect season and bcs bowl (but not title game) win. mike price needs to step it up. but seriously, even though i'm not sure they should be that high (have they played anybody?), congrats on them cracking the rankings.
I wonder if they built the stadium first, then the mountains? Great scenery! But then I would want to go back to my Mexico just a few feet away...
